Cafe Fina - Wednesday - 7/23
Liir was rather perplexed by all the citrus fruits.
For one, they tasted like actual citrus fruits. That had been his first test, the first thing he'd tried. It had also been a very good breakfast.
Then he'd tried to figure out when he might have picked up enough information to make other citrus fruits. Because it wasn't as if it was out of the realm for him to do magic while not meaning to. He'd done it while asleep before.
As it was, though, he just decided not to think too much about it and made sure to use today's bounty towards some delicious food.
Today's Special
Candied Orange Peels
Lemon Chicken
Black Pepper and Lime Fries
Chipotle Lime Baconwrapped Shrimp
Orange Poppy Seed Cookies
The Cafe Fina was open!
[no ocd today]

"Smells good in here," he commented, looking about the cafe.

"I've been taking advantage of all the fruit," he said with a smile.
"Would you like something to drink? I promise we have more than lemonade."
no subject
"That would be awesome. Water? With lots of ice? Or, if you have something you think would be more refreshing, I'm game to try it. I'm always up for something new."
He moved to take a seat at the counter.

"Were you out doing errands?" he asked curiously.

He poured himself a glass of the red stuff. "Dude, that's really sweet. What is it, kool-aid?"
no subject
"Virgin sangria, made with pomegranate juice," he corrected him.
"Did you want something a little more plain?"
He shook his head a little.
"I've got a bit of a sweet tooth, unfortunately."
no subject
Hey, he was a free man now.

Something like a two by four might work. Or saying, to his face, in small words, that they were interested in him in a non-intellectual sense. Or possibly kissing him, which was the tack Trism had taken to good effect, though to be fair that had been after a rather harrowing event for both of them.
Either way, the look got a friendly smile in return.
"There's plenty of sweets on the menu today. Is there anything in particular you'd like? I'm pretty handy so even if it's not one of the specials, I can probably put something together for you."
no subject
"So, uh, my name's Kevin."
no subject
"And so I don't serve you something that'll have you sweating worse, do you prefer something hot or something more mild?"
Despite how easy it might be to misconstrue, Liir was not actually flirting. He was just being friendly and asking questions about food. Like he does.

He leaned forward. "So, Liir, you single?"
no subject
"I am. For a month and some, though I usually don't mention it as my previous paramour is on the island and I don't like to make things awkward."
He was damnably good at being awkward all by himself, after all.
"And if you like to sweat," he said as his smile turned just a touch Wicked, "I will see what I can put together. For the moment, however, enjoy one of these."
He put down a wax-wrapped caramel (http://www.cookingdebauchery.com/cooking_debauchery/2008/02/szechuan-pepper.html).
"Nothing too hot, but it will make your tongue tingle and I've found it's very good before a bit of heat."
...no. Really. He's still not actually flirting. This is all culinary enthusiasm.
no subject
"Yeah, exes can be a real pain in the ass. Mine thinks he's entitled to anything he wants." He shrugged.
"So you ever just mess around? You know, for fun?" Kevin didn't mind getting to the point.

And creeping up behind her brother to (hopefully) surprise him with a hug. "Guess who?"
no subject
He almost startled before relaxing again.
"That's simple enough. You're the only one who comes to see me."
Other than Amber, and there was no way he was opening that can of worms again.

He bounced on the balls of his feet at the thought.
"I did magic, you know. I wanted to make something and I did and it came out as it was supposed to.
"I can hardly believe it, really."

He didn't need to struggle so hard to believe in himself. Now he had proof of his competency.

"I've named it Staffy," she said, instead.
no subject
"...Staffy?"

Well, it wasn't a laugh because there wasn't any noise, and his expression was as confused as that of a Munchkin asked to get something off the top shelf but his shoulders sort of convulsed a couple of times.
"I see."
He looked down and kissed the top of her head.
no subject
...
"...what's that supposed to mean?" Dubiously.
