The Park, Saturday morning

Wolverine was the best there was at what he did. And what he was doing today was hunting kangaroos. He'd been tracking this kangaroo since he left his hotel room, staying determined to get into its pouch and take a ride around the park.

This was his time. He dropped out of the tree he had been waiting in, aimed right at the pouch. At the last moment, though, the kangaroo jumped forward, leaving Wolverine to land on the ground. "Nuts. Come back here, you stupid kangaroo! I want a ride!"

And that's how kangaroo hunting officially became kangaroo chasing.

"JIMMY! JIMMYJIMMYJIMMY!" Wade wasn't sure why he was so certain the kid's name was Jimmy. And Logan and something about a bear?

"Call me Wolverine, bub! And if you're not gonna help me catch this kangaroo, leave me alone!" Wolverine said.

"Because I wanna ride in his pouch!" Wolverine growled as if this should be OBVIOUS.

The growling was cool. "You can do that?!"

"Well, I can, but that's because I'm cool. I don't know about you," Wolverine said, leaping for the kangaroo's tail and JUST missing.

"I can too!" Wade objected, lunging for the kangaroo as well.

"You scared it," Wolverine said, picking himself off the ground and giving chase again. "You just made this that much harder, bub."

"Did not did not did not!" Wade started to run after the poor animal too. "I'm gonna do it before you!"

After getting away from that girl, how weird was that? Murdock had made a quick dash to his house (hee, his house) and changed out of that evil, scratchy suit thing. Ewww!

Much more comfy in his khakis, tee-shirt and jacket, he decided to go on a wee bit of adventure. He spotted the kid chasing the 'roos in the park and decided that it looked like a lot of fun.

"Hey! I can I do that too?" Best to ask in case the 'roos belonged to the other boy and he didn't want others to play with them. Even if that would be meanie like.

"Probably. But not as good as me. I'm the best there is at what I do," Wolverine said.

He frowned. Well, that wasn't very nice. "How do you know?" he asked, huffing a bit. "I's very good at what I do too! Watch!"

He waited until a 'roo went dashing by and he lunged for it, missing it completely. "Aww, dangit! Slow down!" He got back up and looked at the other boy. "So gonna get the next one."

"Told you I was better at this than you," Wolverine said as he continued to chase his kangaroo. "You've gotta wait for the right moment."

"An' when's that?" he replied, crossing his arms over his chest and glaring just a little. Kid telling him he was better, so not cool. He knew what he was doing! He was eight! That made him very smart.

Way smarter than Mr. Know-It-All over there.

"I can't tell you. You've just got to know," Wolverine said.

"Well, I do know," he huffed just a little. "Jus' you watch." Another 'roo came by, going a bit slower than it's companion had. He crouched down, just waiting and then jumped at the 'roo when it was closer. Success! he now had a leg.

That didn't necessarily stop the 'roo, however.

"Hey! Stop you dummy!" Murdock yelled as he was dragged along.

"So you got a slow kangaroo and you're not even in the pouch yet," Wolverine scoffed. "Big deal."

A little boy paused in running around the park at full speed pretending to fly to ask Wolverine, "//What are you doing, you crazy boy?//" In French, because obviously it was not Jean-Paul's problem if other people did not speak French.

"What?" Wolverine asked.

"//What are you doing?//" Jean-Paul repeated, more slowly. Maybe that would help.

"You don't speak Pig Latin well," Wolverine said.

"Oh," Jean-Paul said, looking down his nose at Wolverine. "You do not speak French?" How tragic.

"Why would I speak French?" Wolverine asked. "I'm from the cool part of Canada."

"Then you should speak French," Jean-Paul said, quite reasonably he thought.

"No, the actual cool part," Wolverine said. "The English-speaking part."
