Trooper Station - Saturday

It wasn't because he was tiny, that Roy wasn't going to stick to his duties. Lugging around a big book on alchemy which was almost too heavy for him, Roy took up his seat behind the counter. He did hope that something would happen, then he could chase around the bad guys and lock them up in a cell. He was sure everyone would be impressed by him then and maybe they'd give him candy.

Mmmmmm candy.

After the incident earlier this morning, Benny needed to get away from the mean girl for a little bit. So he was pushing and pushing the door to the new place open and letting his puppy go in before he followed him.

"Hi!" He waved at the other little boy.

Roy's eyes widened at the puppy. He loved dogs and he leaned forward to get a better look of the dog. "Hi! Hi! Is he yours?"

"Yep!" Dief trotted over to see Roy. "His name's Dief!"

"Ooooooh!" Roy promptly hopped off his chair to greet the puppy, holding out his hand. "He's pretty. I want a doggy too."

"Thank you!" Benny said excitedly. "He's part wolf. I got him in Canananada!"

"I don't know where that is," Roy said with a frown, wondering if he was dumb too now. Not as dumb as Aly, that was for sure. "Can I get one there too?"

"Yes!" He nodded. "There are lots of doggies and wolfies there!"

"Is it far?" Roy asked, scrubbling behind Dief's ear. "We could go there and get one?"

"We might need a car," he said thoughtfully. "Or a sled. We hafta go north. It might take like an hour!"

Dale wandered into the police station talking into his playskool tape recorder as he went.

"Diane! Hi! It's me! Dale! I'm at the police station because I'm going to be a G-man when I grow up! Just like Jimmie Stewart! I'm going away now! Bye!"

"What's a G-man?" Roy wanted to know, peeking over his book at the other boy.

"They're the F.B.I!" Dale said with a bounce. "They're the best policemen ever!"

"How do you know?" Roy wanted to know.

"I saw it in a movie!" Dale replied. "It was neat! They had guns and solved crimes!"

"That doesn't make them the best," Roy knew.

"But they are! I read it in a book!" Dale argued.

"Oh," he paused. "Then it has to be true." Because books were right. "Do they have a uniform?"

Wolverine burst into the Trooper Station. "Is there a kangaroo here? I thought I saw him come in!"

If there was, Roy didn't notice because he had his nose in his book. He peered at the oddly dressed boy. "No. Why would there be?" He paused. "You dress funny."

"I'm the best there is at dressing myself," Wolverine said. "And there would be a kangaroo in here because I was chasing it and it disappeared right around here. Are you sure there are no kangaroos? Did you look for any?"

"No, I didn't look," Roy wasn't so sure about that whole dressing thing but the mask was kind of intimidating. He closed his book and glanced around the lobby. "I didn't look... There's lots of places to hide here, though."

"If you find him, could you get everyone to make sure he doesn't leave until I get back?" Wolverine said. "It's very important."

Roy paused, finding this boy very odd. "Why?"

"Because I'm gonna ride in his pouch," Wolverine said.

"Aren't you too big for that?" Roy asked, not having seen the huge kangaroos on the island yet.
