The York Gallery; Sunday [ 08/03 ]

Charlotte had had such a fun time yesterday, drawing new pictures to put up in the gallery to cover up all those ugly ones, but the ones she and Kevin drew could only cover so much. So she was busy at work at the reception desk, scribbling away all sorts of castle and fairies and ballerinas and ponies and puppies and princesses and knights and dragons (even though she wasn't very good at those) and flowers and butterflies. And shoes. She drew some pretty shoes, too, and whenever she finished one, she put a price tag of about fifteen dollars on it, hurried into the gallery, posted it somewhere, and then went back to work.

There were plenty of crayons and paper for everyone else to contribute, but only if they drew pretty things.

She'd also found some cookies, but did not know how to work the coffee machine, which was okay, because coffee would stunt her growth, and Charlotte didn't want to be a ballerina anymore today. She wanted to be a model, and they had to be tall.

But not too tall.

The York Gallery is open!

This place had pictures. Cool! G'Kar wandered in, noticed the girl at the desk and headed over to her. "Hi." He cocked his head a little in interest. "What are you doing?"

Ooh, a business proposition! He could do that! "Can I make art too? I can draw real good."

"How pretty is pretty?" he asked. Best to be sure he got it right so he could earn money.

Then of course, he could buy lots of candy.

And ice cream. Oooh, ice cream!

"How about spaceships?" he asked. "I'm more used to those. And I can think of a very pretty looking one, too."

"This one doesn't, not really." It did actually, but it was a sleek, smooth design that didn't have blunt, fearsome parts sticking out all over. "It'll be pretty, I promise."

"Pink?" He sounded disgusted at the idea. "This one doesn't have pink," well, some of them did, "it's blue. And it's very, very pretty."

Pink! Like he would even consider using such a horrible color. It was girly! Ewww.

He smiled at her, "Yep! It'll be good, I promise. Even if..." he did his best to not seem so distasteful about it, "there's no pink."

Yucky pink!

"There can be red," he nodded, moving toward the desk. "Can I use these?" he asked, pointing at her supplies of crayons and paper.

"I try to remember." They were ingrained, really. Any disrespect from a Narn to a Centauri, even from a child, brought swift and harsh punishment.

"Welcome!" he replied, snagging a handful of crayons and settling on the floor, stretching out on his stomach and starting to draw.

Yuui was still exploring, checking different places to try to find his missing brother. It didn't look like he was here, but- "Are you coloring?" he asked, eyes lighting up at the sight of the paper and crayons.

"Can I??" Yuui grinned brightly. "You'd really let me?"

"Can I draw kitties?" Yuui accepted the paper with a smile. "They're cute, which counts, right?"

"I'm Yuui," the blond boy replied, bowing politely like he'd been taught. "It's nice to meet you. May I sit with you, please, Lady Charlotte?"

Well, Yuui was technically a prince. Even if he was a lesser prince. Don't ask...it's a CLAMP series; that should explain everything. He still had manners. He hopped up onto one of the chair and began drawing happily.

"If you want, I can help put pictures up when they're done. You can tell me where to put them and we can use the chairs." Granted, Charlotte was probably taller than Yuui...

Yuui looked up at the gallery, squinting a little as he studied it. "It's not that bad. There's worse. But there's better, too, like the new pictures." He scribbled away industriously, adding a sun and a blue sky to his kitty picture. "You're a good drawer."

"My eyes have to be blue," Yuui said quickly. "Otherwise I wouldn't be able to use magic. That's what they told me."

"Yes. My brother does too. He's my twin." Because he had to explain that, of course. "But I can't find him...I'm not sure where he is." Yuui finished the picture, signing his name in symbols that weren't anything like an earth language. "But I'm not s'posed to do magic, because it could hurt somebody and that would be bad."

[identity profile] hanged-magician.livejournal.com 2008-08-04 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
"No...I can't find him anywhere. But everybody here has been nice and I know that they'll be nice to him too, so I'm not as scared as I was before." Yuui smiled. "Do you have a brother, Lady Charlotte?"

"We hafta take care of our brothers," Yuui said firmly, setting his finished picture aside and getting another piece of paper. This was going to be a very picture-productive day.

"...Eew. Fai would never do that to me. I'd have to do it back because we're twins and..yuck." Yuui made a face. "What are you drawing? A pony?" He was a very curious little boy.

"Ohh, I see." Not that Yuui knew what a unicorn was. Shh. "It's very pretty. They're special, aren't they?"

Re: Reception Area -- 08/03

[identity profile] hanged-magician.livejournal.com 2008-08-05 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh. I get it." He didn't. But he smiled, anyway. Scribbles of crayons gradually resolved themselves into a rainbow as Yuui colored. "But the bad guys can't get us here, because it's special. And the pictures are a magical barrier!"
