Wellspring Arms: Monday

After several attempts to make it to the store, Worf eventually ended up at the door and managed to get the store open on time.

Hopefully the "getting lost" thing happened only outside as he did not want to deal with customers getting lost between the meditation room and the shooting range.

Wellspring is open.

Who is currently fiddling with a tri-corder and trying to make sense of it all.

That morning, Cable had gotten up, made coffee, and strolled down the stairs into the shop.

Some twenty minutes later, he entered the shop through the front door. "...I can see where this is going to get confusing," he commented, putting his empty cup on a shelf on his way in.

"Scans are inconclusive," Worf reported as he continued to scan with the tri-corder. "I assume you are speaking of the... phenomena that is occurring on the island."

"Yes," he replied, strolling into the store. "You've been suffering from it as well?"

"It was the reason I was 10.7 minutes late today," Worf replied. "I apologize. I'll make sure to leave earlier next time."

"Hm," Cable said, considering the door. "Yeah, that's going to be trouble. You're running scans?"

"Yes. However my tri-corder seems unable to find a reasoning for any of it," Worf said with a huff before snapping it shut. "I believe this is what is commonly known as a Fandom Thing."

The last two words were clearly spoken with some distaste.

Worf got a curt nod. "Keep scanning," Cable said, "One minute it's a 'Fandom Thing', the next we've got some hell to deal with." Like diseases, angel statues, or invading vice-principals.

"Perhaps it is related to the recent rash of people changing into animals," Worf surmised.

"Maybe." It was always possible, but... "Animal transformations tend to be a staple of the island," he continued, fluidly, "It's been on the move for a while now. If this means it's trying to come apart somehow, I want to know about it."

Worf nodded and held up his tri-corder. "Do you have any technology that would be compatible with this? Its range is limited."

"I might," Cable replied, vaguely. "I'll have to see that."

Worf handed over the instrument. "It is called a tri-corder. It is a sensor device that can be used to analyze various types of data."

He flipped it open, and upon noting the general layout of the device, his face adopted a thoughtful expression. "What kind of date, specifically?" Cable asked, his eyes flicking across the display.

Worf went into a *handwavy* explanation of the technology before adding: "It is also capable of performing general sensory functions such as generating floor plan views, and locating bio-signs and interfacing and interacting with other pieces of technology."

"Sounds like a useful piece of technology," Cable surmised, categorizing that one carefully under the header of might-use-in-the-future. It looked somewhat like the tech he was used to working with, but not quite-- which meant its compatibility with anything he could work up was up in the air.

Maybe you should just hit it with a hammer, Nathan... He offered the tricorder back to Worf, and added, "I'll look into it. As for now, take readings around the island. We'll see what we can rustle up."

"I will do so, sir," Worf replied with a nod. "Anything else that needs to be done in the store today?"

"That'll be all, Worf," he said, turning towards the door. "I'll be taking a look at just where the island has brought us now..."

"Very well," Worf replied. "I recommend arming yourself in the meantime."

"Ten steps ahead of you," Cable deadpanned, and slipped out of the store.

Om.
