Cafe Fina - Wednesday - 8/20
Liir was in a very good mood today to the point where he was practically skipping as he made his way into the kitchen, greeted his kitchenware associates, and started in.
Today's Specials
Chicken Chili Verde
Chili Pork Loin Wraps
Vegetarian Moussaka
Brown Butter Truffle Pasta with Mushrooms
Caramel Pecan Tarts
Strawberry Banana Bread
Sandwich Cookies
...when he was in a good mood, he attempted to burn people's mouths off before dousing them with sugar.
Cafe Fina was open.
[going to the doctors, so mod your service until around 3pmish EST; no OCD cause OMG have to go soon]

"Hey there," he greeted pleasantly.
no subject
"Hello, sir" he replied respectfully. This man wasn't anyone he'd ever spoken to before. He'd seen him here for lunch once, but that was about it.
"Can I help you with anything? Is there anything you'd like from our menu? If nothing suits you, I can whip something else up for you to have."
no subject
Standard approach seemed to be apt here. Get info first.
no subject
"That would be me, sir. How may I help you?"
He put out a few before sliding a glass of something softly lavender-and-lemon scented (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Amys-Lavender-Lemonade/Detail.aspx) over to where Murdock could reach it.
"On the house, sir. And you're welcome to take a seat."
no subject
He tilted his head curiously at Liir. "Seems you and I have a mutal friend in common. Amber. Real nice, sweet gal?"
no subject
"Yes. Amber's a good friend, really. Very kind. Did she tell you to come by today? I'm usually pretty good at spicier foods, but I do all sorts if you'd like.
no subject
"Amber told me somethin' pretty interesting." A pointed look towards Liir, "You exposed yourself to her?"
Just a seemingly simple question, nothing to it to give any idea of what Murdock might be aiming for. He wanted to see what the kid's reaction would be.
no subject
"Er."
He didn't quite know what was being asked here, or really why it was any of this stranger's business.
"I'm not quite sure what you're asking about, sir," he started slowly, "what-- could you-- do you think I--"
He finally swallowed.
"Sir?"
How, exactly, do you answer something like that?
no subject
"Amber. Told me that you'd stripped in front of her. Now, I don't know how that kind of thing goes over wherever you're from, but around here, most people think it a bit impolite. Unless," and here was the opening that would play a large part in the deciding factor, "there was some specific circumstance that led to this whole incident."
no subject
"I most certainly didn't 'strip'. She told me she was interested in seeing what a boy looked like naked, and I offered to let her see as I wanted to be helpful. She came to my room, I took my clothes off, and when her curiousity was satisfied, I put on my trousers once more and we continued talking as we had. I'd never do something like 'stripping' in front of Amber. She's not expressed an interest in starting a relationship, and I certainly wouldn't presume!"
no subject
He dropped the pose and went back to his usual self. "Knowin' Amber, somehow that little 'proposition' doesn't surprise me. Girl's gonna end up causin' a heap of trouble someday."
He took another sip of his drink. "This stuff's actually pretty good."
no subject
"Satisfied?" he finally got out with a bit of a huff.
Another breath and the tension actually slipped out of him this time.
"My apologies. I didn't mean to snap. I'm glad someone else is concerned for her, but it was a bit startling, sir. Would you like anything else? I can refill that if you like, the drink."
no subject
"No problemo, man. And I'm sorry for coming down on you like that. I probably went just a bit overboard. Amber's a nice girl, you know." And the look he settled on Liir wasn't entirely sane. "I don't like to see bad things happen to nice people."
He glanced down at the glass, then fixed another grin on Liir. "Sure! Why not? I ain't had lunch yet. How about that chili stuff? Oh, and I'm Murdock, by the way. Nice to meet ya."
no subject
"Nice to meet you, sir," he said after a moment as he poured out some more of the lemonade, "And yes, Amber is very nice. She's my friend, after all. Now that you've explained, I don't mind so no apologies necessary."
Beat.
"Which chili stuff? There's two items today with chili."
no subject
"The chicken thing," he replied almost absently. "After she told me that story about that crazy gal back in her hometown," the idea of someone trying to kill Amber still boggled him, "I guess I started lookin' out a bit for her. Funny how those things work out sometime."
He grinned. "You're okay, Liir. I like you."
no subject
"The chicken will be right out then," he finally managed to say.
"And, er, thank you, I suppose. You're--" slightly unbalanced "well, I'm glad someone's looking out for her."
no subject
"You're welcome," he beamed back, totally missing anything on Liir's part. "I started teachin' her some basic self defense. Not that I wish she had a need for it, but just in case. Never can tell what might happen."
no subject
"I don't know how good I actually am in a fight, but I'm still kicking anyway."
He ducked his head to pull out the sandwich cookie ends and put them on the cooling rack.
"My oranges have been disturbingly effective in that regard."
...no, really.
And he's not talking about the Creepy Deer Thing.
no subject
He blinked. "Oranges?"
That could be interesting.
no subject
Which brought him to the oranges.
"Oranges. You'd be surprised how useful it is to be able to make oranges that don't taste like oranges."
He put out a small plate of cheese and crackers for Murdock as he worked on his food.
no subject
He nibbled on a bit of cheese, using a piece of it as a pointer almost as he started talking again. "If an orange doesn't taste like an orange, what would it taste like? Some other kind of fruit or some really random thing you wouldn't expect? Like fish maybe."
Serious questions, there.
no subject
Liir held up a finger, closed his eyes, and at this point it was almost too easy, as easy as flying the broom.
A moment later, he held out an orange.
If Murdock opened it and had a slice, it would taste like spiced dark chocolate.
no subject
"Hm. Chocolate!" he grinned. "Cool trick!"
no subject
"Your food is almost done," he admitted as he started putting the dish together. "Did you want any more lemonade? Or anything else?"
no subject
If one could call 'skinny as a rail' a figure, that is.
no subject
A few minutes later, he sent out the chicken chili verde.
And a plate of sandwich cookies. He liked providing treats.
no subject
He took a bite of his food. "Mm. Good!"
no subject
He gave Murdock a quick bow of his head before tipping his head to the kitchen.
"I should get back to work, sir, if you don't mind. Enjoy the food, and the cookies. And tell Amber hello, if you see her before I do."
no subject
"Thanks Liir!" he called out, "And I'll tell her if I see her. You do the same for me, alright?"
And then he slipped out the door, whistling as he went along.
