The Onsen, Friday Evening

Jaina needed to relax. John had decided it was his job to make relaxation happen since she seemed much more interested in things like work, work, and working out. Not that those things were bad, they simply weren't relaxing.

What was relaxing? Well, obviously hot water was relaxing. Which explained why John and Jaina were at The Onsen on a Friday evening. Granted, he'd nearly had to drag her from the cabin and her comm, but they'd made it to The Onsen without a scuffle.

Whether things would stay that way was completely up to her.

For the nth time, that would be Jaina complaining. "I have other things I should be doing, you know," she said, though it didn't stop her from looking around.

"Not on a Friday night, you don't," John replied for the nth time. "Besides, this place looks pretty cool. Don't you feel up to a little exploration?"

"There are a few sim programs I haven't gone through yet..." Yeah, she knew that wouldn't count as exploration.

"Yeah, they'll be there tomorrow morning," John said, shoving a bag toward her. "Go change. I promise the water here's more interesting."

"It's water," she grumped, though she did take the bag.

"It's hot natural water," John corrected. "Give it a chance."

She muttered something about this being a waste of her time, but sighed and headed off to change.

John couldn't help thinking she was cute when she was cranky, and followed the instructions to change and shower before emerging in his bathing trunks by the springs. It really was a relaxing atmosphere with all the heat and steamy water.

When she came back out in her swimsuit, she still looked cute cranky, though all right, she couldn't complain as much about an activity that saw him in this few clothes. "Happy?"

Taking a moment to remember just why he liked swimsuits, John directed a self-satisfied smile in her direction. "Ecstatic. Why don't we swim all the time?"

"Because sometimes it gets cold, and there are other things to do, and our fingers would get pruny."

"Right, hard to remember at present," John grinned, offering up his hand. "Can I help you in?"

Jaina frowned at him, and totally gave him her hand anyway. "Okay, fine, but we can't stay long."

"Right, not long." He led her to the edge and stepped down into the warm water, ready to help her in as a courtesy, not out of need. "Though I wouldn't blame you for changing your mind at any moment."

Stepping into the water and already adjusting to the temperature, she had to admit she'd felt worse. Not out loud, of course. "I doubt that'll happen," she assured him.

"Uh huh," John was pretty sure she'd come around eventually. And if she didn't? Well, he'd enjoy himself for the both of them. "Ever been to a hot spring before?"

"Not like this," she shrugged. "The rivers on Yavin were about the closest, actually, and I don't think that counts."

John moved deeper into the water. "So it's something new for both of us. What were the rivers on Yavin like?"

"We were in the jungle," Jaina explained. "We never had any problem going deep enough into it to get to the rivers, and I think they flowed down from the volanic ranges. Also, they sometimes had just way too many creatures in them."

"Creatures I can live without," John said. "But it sounds pretty cool other than that."

"It was. Could have done without the humidity, though." Slight attempt at humor there.

John smirked. "Everything's better without the humidity. Makes the desert almost comfortable."

"That's got sand, though," she pointed out. "Everywhere. Talk to Luke and Gavin."

"I've heard lots about their sand. I can't say I blame them for getting the hell away from it."

"Every world's got something to get the hell away from. I doubt sand was really the reasoning." Way to go serious, Jaina.
