Millie was humming rather cheerfully as she worked around the store this morning. Part of it might be a bit of whistling in the dark as she knew she would miss some of the leaving students quite a bit.

But there would be new ones coming in soon and she was trying to think of that instead.

She was also going to have to put up a help wanted sign soon as she was down to only two employees.

"Things can indeed always be worse," Millie said quietly.

"I hope I haven't ... ah, put my foot in my mouth." Although that would be just like him, wouldn't it?

"What?" Millie said looking at him curiously. "Oh, I see, no, no, you've said nothing untoward. But life... well those who pay attention see how difficult things can get."

Fiyero smiled lightly and nodded. "I've got a terrible habit of embarrassing myself. I'm Fiyero, by the way." Since he hadn't even given the woman his name.

"Oh, Goddes, I'm sorry!" she said, putting a hand to her mouth. "Despite everything I can't seem to remember my manners. Hello, Fiyero. I'm Millie, though I'm sure Liir has already told you so."

"To be fair," he offered, "I hadn't told you my name either. Really, since I knew yours already I was being far ruder."

She grinned at him. "We could probably argue the etiquette for some time, so perhaps we should just call it even."

"Sounds good." And remarkably less tiring.

"...if you'll excuse me, though, I'm a little ... distracted. Have you found yourself flavored?"

Millie blinked at him. "Why... how did you know?"

He laughed.

"I happen to be having the very same odd sort of day." He didn't up and lick her like he had Geoffrey, though. He had more good sense (and propriety) than that with normal people.

"And what do you taste like?" she asked.

"Something like spicy chai. Also chocolate, but apparently only on the blue bits."

Yeah, it was a little odd.

She looked at him consideringly and smiled. "Sounds quite delicious."

After a moment of hesitation, "Would it be odd if I offered a taste?"

Millie considered. "No. Not under the circumstances."

Fiyero held out his wrist for her with a quirked brow.

"Very well, then."

Millie hesitated, then delicately leaned in to taste.

She smiled up at him. "Oh, that's quite amazing!"

The fact that it wasn't odd to have a strange woman tasting him was ... interesting.

He laughed a little. "Geoffrey's a bit like waffles, oddly enough."

"Waffles," Millie said thoughtfully. "I'm not certain I've ever tasted them."

"I seem to taste a bit like a fruit I greatly loved with a child and which seems not to exist on either of the other worlds I have lived on. It's a bit sweet, with a tart edge to it. Sort of like a very ripe strawberry mixed with one of those tart green apples."

"They're ... interesting."

At her description, though, he tilted his head curiously. "Er, if I may?" The flavor combination sounded intriguing.

"Oh yes, certainly," she said quickly and offered him her wrist.

He didn't so much as hesitate to taste.

Afterward, though, he did look very thoughtful. "Hm. That would be an exceptional fruit, I must agree."

She shivered a little at the feel of his tongue on her skin, then smiled up at him.

"It is, isn't it. Now I shall be craving them for weeks."

"A most unfortunate thing," he agreed.

Eventually he'd probably start craving Saffron Cream. Maybe someone here would know how to make it.

"Ah well, such is life," Millie said smiling again. "We always wish for what we can't have."
