Today was a great deal more hectic, a great deal less irritating and, to Geoffrey, a great deal more exciting than yesterday had been. It had made him considerably more appreciative of the sturdy old footwear he sported, but not much else, and of course today was better for being the last day of casting.

It wasn't a lot of money but it was paid work and he could use the experience. Even if the guy's grin was a little unnerving. "Yeah, that'd be great!" he said. "Do you have an application I should fill out?"

"Do you have any experience?"

That was about all Geoffrey cared about.

"Also, are you comfortable working with the mentally ill?"

Actors. Himself.

"I worked as a PA on a television show this summer," Tony said. "Darkest Night, a vampire detective show." Which more or less answered both questions, in his opinion.

He didn't wince. It was Hard.

"Well then," he said, sounding a little as if he might float off at any moment, "that sounds good enough for me. Got a name? Mine happens to be Geoffrey. Geoffrey Tennant. You'll be yelling at me soon enough, I'm sure."

He held out a hand.

"Good to meet you, Tony."

He grinned.

"How are your hands, are they steady?"

Someone was getting volunteered for lighting duty before there was even a production running.

"Know anything about carpentry?"

"I've done some set building," Tony said. "I can put together a flat and handle most anything that requires a hammer and nail if you give me something to start with."

This really was looking to be a very good arrangment.

"Do you have common sense? Practicality? Any of that?"

Not required, but it would be nice.

Tony blinked. "Yeah, I think I'm pretty grounded," he said. In spite of the vampires, magic and demons. Or maybe because of them.

He ran both hands through his hair for a moment before.

"Are you familiar with the play we're doing right now? Much Ado About Nothing?"

Tony shook his head "no." "Is that Shakespeare?"

He reached into a pocket and pulled out a copy of the text.

"And for the next few weeks until the run is over, this is your Bible."

Tony accepted the play and tried not to grimace at the idea of reading through all that archaic language. He'd have to see if there was a movie version. "Okay," he said. "Do you want me to do something today?"

"Not right now, no. Well, you're welcome to haunt around and get a feel for the place. If you notice the closet with the bed in it and the load of pillows and things, one's mine and the other is Fiyero's. We live here, so just don't pay it any mind.

"Feel free to take from the fridge."
