Biff, wearing his favorite "Jesus Shaves" t-shirt, wandered into the Wellspring Arms and Meditation Center for his first day of work.

He'd even come prepared with a magazine devoted to yoga to flip through.

...that he was marking pages where the women looked especially good in Spandex was immaterial.

It's what he's here for!

It was morning, after his walk, and he had a new employee. Which meant-- "So how's business?" Cable asked, with any hints of irony carefully covered underneath a blanket of earnesty.

"No one's wanted to buy anything so far, so...good," Biff replied.

"I can't fault you for following the job description," Cable replied, passing by a few aisles. "... 'Jesus Shaves'?"

Biff grinned. "He didn't, actually, but I think he would've loved the shirt."

"You might want to take that up with the Christian theologians..." Cable deadpanned, turning so he could properly consider the contents of one of the gun cases.

"From what I've seen on television, they don't have a sense of humor about anything," Biff replied. "They make John the Baptist look like a barrel of laughs."

"Televangelists are hardly the end-all of theology," he replied, "I had breakfast with several at my old posting, who established some interesting theories." He glanced over his shoulder.

Of course, that had been Providence, where only the insane, the intellectual, and the granola-fancying went.

"Although I'm not sure his hygiene was in any way involved."

Biff made a face. "John's hygiene left a lot to be desired."

"As is the case with a lot of religious figures," Cable noted. He'd known a few. "But that's generally hardly the point."

"With John, it was hardly a plus when you added it to his 'death to sluts' theme," Biff replied. "Not going to make a lot of friends that way."

He really only had one thing to say to that. "Well, most religions tend to sprout out of conflict." Which didn't mean he was advocating death to anyone right there.

Biff nodded. "Didn't make Josh happy to realize that."

"It's when people are most in need of something to believe in," Cable replied, running his mental inventory yet again. "Although as far as hopeful messages go, 'stoning prostitutes' seems a little counterproductive."

"And he had his head cut off by a teenaged slut," Biff said, nodding. "If he hadn't already been dead, the irony would've killed him."

"Irony," Cable replied, "Always seems to be a risk..."

Biff raised an eyebrow. "Always?"

"Yes," he said, utterly failing to elaborate. "It sounds like you feel scripture was a little off."

"Well, for one, they left me out entirely," Biff replied.

"I can't say I've heard of Levi, he who is called Biff previous to your arrival on the island," he noted, leaning back. "So...?"

Biff rolled his eyes. "The apostles were a little unhappy with me there at the end," he admitted.

"And was there any particular reason for that?" he asked with interest.

"Probably," Biff said. "For one, my hair is much better than Peter's."

Ohmmmmmmm.
