The Arms Hotel Lobby, Tuesday [9/30/2008]

Mary was feeling a little lost after her clipboard went missing. She was on the verge of taking apart the front desk, having already emptied out all the drawers looking for her clipboard. Little did she know that Gunther had hidden it in the basement just to mess with her.

Heading back to the hotel around lunchtime, Simon saw Mary in the lobby, remembering that River had been fond of her. He gave a nod in greeting.

Mary was digging through the contents of a filing cabinet. "Can I help... oh, wait, you're River's brother. Hi!" she squealed. "How is River? I miss her so much."

"She's gone," he said simply, looking tired. "Kidnapped."

"Kidnapped?" gasped Mary. "Oh my goodness! I had no idea."

She paused, looking carefully at Simon. "Are you okay?"

"I'm..." He ran a hand through his hair, trying to keep his voice steady. "I'll find her. I have to."

[have to disappear for a while!]

"I'd like to help, if I can," said Mary.

"Thank you." He wasn't sure what help could be needed, but he appreciated the obvious sincerity of Mary's offer.

"In the meantime, order whatever you want from room service. It's on the house," said Mary. At the very least, she could make sure Simon was well fed.

"Thank you, but..." He pauased, then nodded. "Thank you."
