Covent Garden Flowers, Tuesday

Ino, privately, might admit that showing up early to work was a bit overenthusiastic, but that wasn’t going to, you know, actually stop her from doing so. Not when it involved flowers. She laughed at the sign, and its added ‘e’.

Needless to say? Ino was very, very zen today. And humming to the flowers.

Who is in a very good, but quiet, mood today.

Tony wasn't sure if Homecoming was one of those things that required flowers, but he stopped in the flower shop before rehearsal anyway, to see what he could find out. "Hi Ino!" he said, surprised to see her there.

She glanced up from where she'd been arranging orchids and grinned. "Hi, Tony! It's been a while, yeah?"

"Since your birthday. I didn't know you worked here," Tony said.

"First day," she admitted. "But isn't it awesome?"

"It's really pretty," Tony smiled, looking around at all the flowers. "Do you know if Homecoming's a corsage kind of event?"

"It totally is," she assured him.

A beat.

"Does this mean you've got a date?"

"Maybe?" he said, with a smile.

She wrinkled her nose at him. "You realize that's not going to deter me from wanting the name, right?"

Tony grinned. "His name's Andrew. Blond guy, lives on the second floor?"

...

"...seriously...?" Ugh.

Tony frowned. "What? You know him?"

"I know him as the weak-willed cowardly jerk that stomped all over my brother's heart," Ino said, still smiling though her eyes were colder. "So, yeah, you could say that I know him."

"Oh." Tony shoved his hands in his pockets. "I know he and Liir went out but I don't know what happened there. But Liir said he was cool with me going out with Andrew?"

"I'm not my brother," she said, almost serenely, pulling out a notepad, and twirling a pen around in her hand, "I'm a lot meaner than he is, for one. And Liir forgives easier than I do. He's so used to not having anyone that he'll put up with a lot of shit just so he--doesn't make waves."

"I've got utterly no problems making waves. I've got no problems calling people on their shit, and I think Andrew's full of it."

A professional smile, empty and bright as a lightblub. "I can take your order for a corsage, but I guarantee that it won't be me that'll make it. Andrew would think it's been poisoned, if I did it," she tugged the cap off her pen, looking expectantly at him, "and, really, he'd be right. So I'll leave it for Eliza-san."

Tony looked at her pen uncertainly. "I don't know," he said. "Maybe a corsage isn't such a good idea."

She raised her eyebrows. "Because I don't like him? I'm not going to do anything but leave a note about it. You'd have to come back later in the week anyway--a corsage would wilt if it was made so early."

"I haven't really done the dance thing before," Tony said. "I don't even know what kind of corsage to get."

"Most people go with something simple," she said, "pretty much, if you like the looks of the flower it can be put in a corsage. Do you know what colours you two are wearing? That way you can match up the flower colours."

"I have a blue tie," Tony said. "I don't know what colour he's wearing. I didn't think to ask."

Ino eyed him. And considered what Andrew looked like.

"White's a good neutral colour," she said, "as long as he's not wearing a white tux. And the green filler would add colour."

"That sounds good," Tony said. "I'll go with that."

She nodded and wrote that down, letting him see exactly what she was putting on the paper. "As an estimate, it'll be ~~handwavy~~, but that won't be exact until they've been made."

Tony nodded. "When do I pick it up?"

She nibbled on the pen cap. "Friday morning, probably. I'll give you a call if it turns out to be different."

"Thanks," Tony said. "I guess I'll see you around?"

She bobbed her head. "Will, can, and hope so!"

You know, even though I tried to convince myself, the OCD still wound up with three comments. I don't know, it just looked... weird with two.

*facepalms*

Ha! Go for it. Modding thread is shiny.
