Atlas Gym, Tuesday morning October 7
That limp he had last week? Almost totally gone. There was still a slight stiffness to his knee, but not enough that he felt he couldn't handle a session with Amber.
He went in a bit earlier than usual and spent the extra time doing stretches and warm-ups. Probably do some work with punching bag or something along those lines. Might be crazy, but he wasn't dumb enough to risk damaging healing muscles.
(the usual. open for others though. join in if you want!)

She waved at Murdock. "Hey, how's the leg?"

"Up for a work out?"
no subject
"Oh," he grinned widely, "did you you know Hoshi started up a self-defense club? Asked me to be the advisor. Ain't that cool?"
no subject
"Yah, I know it," Amber smiled. "I signed up."
no subject
"So what for the day? More work on form with the bag?"
no subject
Amber nodded. "Sure, I can do that." She grabbed her bag and searched for her gloves, putting them on as she stepped over to the bag. "You know anything different than what I've done with it already?"
no subject
... "Wait. Is that a good idea?" He was still teasing though.
He wandered over to the bag as well, grabbing hold of it and steadying it for her. "Naw, not really. Some people would tell you that you have to follow a certain line when doing it, but I think each person needs to find their own niche. Whatever is comfortable and works best for them, you know? That's what you could do," an idea suddenly occurred to him, "just experiment a bit and see what you like, what works for you."

Nodding, she started in, dancing side to side as she alternated between right and left gloves. This is what worked for her and what she was comfortable with. She hit hard and fast and worked up a quick sweat.

He held onto the bag to keep it from bouncing around too much, watching her as he did so. "You're doin' real good, Amber. Probably can kick my butt again."

It was probably just a slip of the tongue. Or something.

"Oh. Er...nothing. I'm just... still kinda surprised by it, is all."
Yes, really he was.

"Thanks," he smirked just a bit.

He was content for the moment to just watch her. That and the fact she'd got him thinking about completely different things other than training so his mind was currently nil.

And he couldn't believe he'd just let himself wander like that and not catch her in time.
"You okay?"
no subject
no subject
"Feel better now?"
"And if you need to talk..." he left it open there.

He took a seat next to her, stretching his own legs out.
"That's a tough one. I'm not sure if I have much to offer on that. I ain't exactly had the best of luck myself in that regard."
He thought for a minute, then asked quietly, "Which do you care for more? Not that you have to tell me, just something for you to think about."
no subject
no subject
"Yes, you should have. It helps just to talk about it sometimes."
He drew his left leg up and placed his chin on top of his knee. "If it helps at all..." he let out a bit of a sigh, "the first gal I had feelings for here didn't work out too well. I liked her a lot, still do in some ways. Things just didn't go like I'd thought they would." And this would be the first time he's openly talked about Millie.
"But maybe it worked out in the end. I found someone else. And while I still do feel a certain fondness for that first gal, I think I feel more for who I got now. Know what I mean?"
no subject
no subject
"Actually..." and he nudged her faintly, "I know exactly what you mean."
no subject
no subject
"But," he leaned toward her a bit, "if she doesn't seem to mind, I doubt he will either."

Wow. How funny this conversation that was supposed to be helping Amber was making him see a few things clearer too. He smirked at her.
"Sometimes some people just need the obvious pointed out to 'em." No, that wasn't on her, but himself.

He nudged her with a foot. "Think we're about done for the day?"

He was obviously
being a smart assteasing since he hadn't actually done much at all.He was also prepared to duck or dodge if necessary.

He was certainly in a good mood today. And also possibly about to get his butt whipped.

Of course he was also laughing his head off so chances are, he'd be going down right along with her.

"Aha! I win!" he grinned at her. If winning counted as being flat on one's back.

"I'm injuried, so by default, I win," he grinned up at her.

He was still a bit busy giggling to get up just yet.
