Coyote Medicine, Tuesday

Coyote had managed to get an actual paying customer yesterday by drumming, so he figured it was time to try something new. He grabbed one of those odd "didgeridoo" things he'd bought on a whim when he saw them advertised as being "native" something-or-others to some other place he'd never been to. He wasn't terribly particular about his stock, as long as someone would associate it with some sort of native culture.

He was slouched in his usual chair outside the store, shirtless again, since the radio seemed to like it when he did that (and he wasn't entirely sure how the radio knew what he was wearing, but hey, if cars could know their way around, he supposed radios could know about fashion, too), propped one end of the didgeridoo on his foot, pursed his lips, and blew.

It sounded like a prolonged moose fart.

It was the best thing ever.

Didgeridoos on special! Though Coyote might warn you to watch out for amorous mooses if you decide to play one.

Hey, it's that same ~~sucker~~ paying customer!

"Dude!" he came bouncing up, "I totally know what I want! A cowboy hat! I lost my last one."

Rather, BA had thrown it out the window of the van because he'd grown tired of the Range Rider.

Coyote clapped his hands happily, somehow not losing his grip on the didgeridoo as he did so. "Excellent choice my friend!" He stood up and leaned the didge against his stool. "I have many cowboy hats to choose from. All colors and sizes!"

"Sweet! I want a ..." he was going to say 'a really huge one', but thought that might be overdoing it. "One that looks good."

Since that was so much more helpful. Really.

Coyote knew enough to never disagree with a customer. "Great! But you know, bigger is better ~~and more expensive~~! And decorated. What's your favorite color?"

"Well, I don't really have a favorite. My usual," he pointed to the ball cap, "is blue. But I guess I could go for something different."

"Black?"

"A perfect color! Maybe with some red feathers?"

It was a combination Coyote clearly liked, himself, since black buckskin with red woodpecker feather trim made up pretty much his entire wardrobe.

"Maybe with just one, small feather?" He didn't really want to overdo it for some reason.

Coyote was disappointed, but didn't let it show on his face. "Subtle decoration. Very good." He waved Murdock towards the hat section of the shop. "We have many big black hats, and a feather may be put on any of them!"

He looked over the selection and pointed to a normal sized, normal looking black cowboy hat.

"That one. I'll try that."

Perhaps he wasn't so crazy today. Might explain why he wasn't bouncing around and trying them all on.

Rational customers were no fun. Coyote nodded and took the indicated hat down off the wall. Along with one two sizes larger, just in case. "You'll look very dashing."

"You think? I'll have to show it off then," he grinned.

Yes, he was wondering about a certain someone.

"Of course." What was it cowboys were always after? "You could win many battles with a hat like that. And, uh. Eat cows."

Coyote didn't actually know much about cowboys.

"Eat cows?" he was trying to figure how that made any sense. And coming up short. "Uh...sure. And I can't argue the winning battles. Worked for me the last time!" he grinned.

"Ah, but before, it wasn't a special hat from a medicine shop, was it?"

If it was, Coyote would be veeeeery curious.

He had to think back on that. "I don't think so. Face picked it up for me."

Which meant that Face probably scammed it from some shopkeeper somewhere.

"Did it have any hands?" Coyote was asking about the face. He was curious how a face could pick up anything. "Or did it use its teeth?"

That got the standard look of total confusion.

"Huh? Did what have hands? What are you talking about?"

Maybe this guy was crazier than he was...
