Oh, look, that would be a not as bouncy girlfriend sliding into the booth next to him and placing the largest coffee she could get from the Perk in front of him.

He knew it was her and peeked his eyes open. "Hey babe," he smiled. "Long night." Part of it was her, part of it was that he just didn't sleep good.

But coffee was mmm and he picked up the cup and took a sip. "Thanks, sweetheart."

"You're welcome, love," she gave him a faint smile. "You didn't sleep very much."

He shook his head. "No, I know it," he mumbled. "Couldn't get comfortable, I guess."

She chewed her lip a little, playing with her cup. "Is there anything I should do or stop doing to help?"

Like no longer jumping him the night before he had to be up early for work...

"What? No," he said quickly, taking her hand in his. "I wouldn't give that up for nothing. Just... was thinking about this coming weekend."

She leaned into him, squeezing his hand. "You have people coming in?"

He shook his head, not worried about himself. "No," he said, eyes on hers. "Do you?" Because that is what he was worried about.

Savannah shrugged. "I don't know yet. Papa Benicio said he might come if he can arrange it. If he does, you don't have anything to worry about. He approves of you."

She ran her fingers along the table top wondering what he would think if he knew the main reason Benicio seemed to approve of him.

Johnny would probably like to know that so he could sit and think about it.

He nodded. "I was curious, who of your family might be coming down... nice to know it's someone who approves of me."

"I told Paige she doesn't need to come this weekend because she already knows you... and I absolutely forbid Clayton to come." That would have been all she needed to be worried and upset about all weekend.

Savannah swallowed and then looked him in the eyes.

"Papa Benicio approves of you because of your power. He uhm... he trusts that you have the power to protect me and... couldbeasruthlessasheisifIweretogethurt."

He nodded to the first, approvingly, but the second part, when she blabbered quickly, he cocked his head and raised a brow.

Oddly, he got all of that. "Damn straight."

"I know. I know you'll keep me safe and make anyone who hurt me sorry." She gave him a slight smile. "You're not like he is, Johnny. You wouldn't manipulate people and scare them into doing things your way. I love Papa Benicio and will never be afraid of him, but he is the first to tell people that he is not a nice man." She sighed. "Example. Sean? When he started trying to find me, he was interogated by Papa Benicio and his men for three hours before he was convinced that he wasn't a danger to me. Had Benicio not been convinced I was in no danger from Sean? Sean would have just disappeared and no one would have seen him again."

Oh.

"That's... an extreme way of caring?" he said, brows raised.

Savannah let out a breath.

"Papa Benicio is the head of one of the largest Cabals, Johnny. By virtue of his favorite son being in love with Paige, I therefore become of great interest to Benicio. He has taken interest in my well-being and my happiness. The Cortez Cabal is... powerful is not a strong enough word. They are also ruthless, vindictive and will not accept any idea of a threat to one of their family. For Sean, a Nast, to approach the Cortezes about me... well, that took guts. The Cortezes and Nasts are not exactly on the best of terms and that relationship has deteriorated since Benicio took an interest in me. After all, protecting the person who killed the heir apparent is not a way to make friends in their world."

She worried her bottom lip and looked at him. "Benicio... is intimidating to a lot of people, but I have never thought that about him. He wants to meet you and promised that he will do his best to remember that you are someone that loves me and not someone that he needs to try to scare into not hurting me. He's not like Clayton, Johnny. Clayton can be a real ass and hothead and I know some of it comes from how he first saw me when he and Elena rescued me. But Benicio... Benicio doesn't know how to be any other way than what he is." She lifted her chin. "Be that as it may, if he is giving you too hard of a time I have no problems telling him so."

"No, I can handle him," he said confidently. "I don't want you saying anything. Trust me, Savannah. If he likes me, and I meet him, then all the rest is a piece of cake. No problem." Johnny was probably too arrogant for his own good.

"If he likes you too much after you meet him he may offer you a job."

And Savannah would go ballistic on Benicio for doing so.

"I know how to say no politely," he assured her, squeezing her hand. "You trust me, right?"

She smiled at him. "With my life," she assured him.

She so did not want to try to deal with the complications that could arise if Benicio decided that Johnny would make the perfect paid bodyguard for her. The image of that theoretical conversation almost made her facepalm.

"Also? Papa Benicio will probably have one of his personal bodyguards with him at all times. Troy is a thug, but he's also completely serious about safety and protection." She wrinkled her nose. "He wanted to assign me a bodyguard and you can imagine how that went over with me."

That theoretical coversation would probably amuse Johnny. Highly.

"Wait. Does Benicio know what I can do?"

Savannah nodded. "I told him. He wanted to know what guarantee he had that I was safe with you." She blushed and ducked her head. "I told him it was because you're my super hero."

Johnny smiled at her but he thought to set the man at ease himself if he met his this weekend. "I should talk to him."

It probably would make Benicio feel more at ease to see for himself that Johnny was capable of everything Savannah had said.

"And he won't instantly distrust you like Paige did," she said softly. "After all, his son committed the worst taboo in the Cabals ever by falling in love with a witch, but Benicio doesn't care. He likes Paige and wants Lucas happy." She grinned. "Oh... he does know we live together."

That had been a fun conversation.

"Why do people do that? Instantly distrust the guy?" He shook his head. "You told him we live together?" Yeah, logic and trust go hand in hand.

"Benicio didn't distrust you immediately after hearing about you, Johnny. He seemed... almost satisfied." Savannah looked at him. "I told you, Paige and the Pack distrust anyone when it comes to me. They sometimes forget that I'm no longer that scared little twelve year old witchling they rescued from the lab ... and hey! Eve didn't instantly distrust you." At his question, she nodded. "I did. Uhmm... back when the island was in Antarctica..."

Maybe he wouldn't ask how that conversation came about.

"Yeah? How'd that conversation come about?" Because he was totally centered on that.

Damn it.

"Remember the fight and the time apart and I ordered the bike for myself? Uhmm, yeah. He called me to find out why there was such a large charge on my account and I told him." She gave him a game smile. "He uhm... wanted to know how my roommate would feel about me doing such a thing and I may have let it slip that he would find it incredibly sexy..."

Johnny groaned. "Ah, Savannah... the guys goint to want to totally kick my ass."

Savannah shook her head. "No, he's not. He said you were safe as long as he didn't find out he was getting a great-grandchild anytime soon."

"Oh god," he groaned.

[I can't type worth crap today.]

She worried her bottom lip. "I thought it was better that I tell him and he not find out by accident." Her voice was small. "I'm sorry."

"No, no," he said, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and pulling her in close. "It's not your fault. Just... man, he's going to look at me and see me screwing you and that's just going to set him on edge and then set me on edge and it's fine. It will be fine. I can handle it. Him. No problem."

"Johnny? That's the least of his concerns, really, I promise. He knows that I love you and you love me and he's not naive. Hell, he probably knew the night we did it the first time."

He looked at her. "How could he possibly know that?"

She shrugged. "How does he know anything?"

"Maybe I'll just hide," he said, thinking that might be a wise decision.

"Johnny... no," she begged softly. "I promise you that the worst you have to expect from him is that he'll want to see your powers."

He raised a brow. "Seriously?"

"He knows my mom," she pointed out.

He nodded, getting that. Then he leaned over to kiss her. "Least we just have to concern ourselves with him. Sue is not coming thank god."

She kissed him. "I like Sue."

"I know you do, sweetheart," he murmured, kissing her again.

She snuggled up against his side. "I love you."
