Coyote Medicine, Wednesday

Coyote didn't so much open the store today as happen to have forgotten to lock it while he took a nap outside with his coyote headdress pulled down over his head.

He'd be sure to wake up for any ~~suckers~~ customers who might stop by, though.

And cowboy junk. And -- was that a coonskin cap, or had a raccoon just fallen asleep amongst the hats?

He's not really sleeping, he's resting his eyes. And he's not snoring, he's . . . chanting. Yes.

Huh. This was new. Coyote Medicine? Jack stared at the sign, trying to make sense of it.

The tail of the coyote headdress fluttered up and down over Coyote's mouth in time to his snores.

Ooookay...

Jack had the sudden urge to poke the tail on the funny hat of the sleeping man. Just an urge, he wouldn't act on it, he was just reaching over for no reason, really.

Poke.

The headdress's eyes flashed open and yellow and it let out a hiss.

Or possibly, that was just a trick of the light.

Jack jerked his hand back and stood motionless for a minute. Or two.

That...wasn't alive. Right. Couldn't be.

It certainly had all appearances of just being a hat.

Jack shook his head. Imagining things. Huh. Maybe he'd better check to be sure. Slowly. Reaching.

Tiny!poke.

The hat definitely didn't move this time.

The guy under it did, though. In fact, he seemed to meld into the hat, until the hat was, in fact, a large coyote sitting on the stool and yawning blearily at Jack.

"Please don't touch me."

Jack looked around, muttering "did I just walk into a thing here?" He blinked. "Tell me I'm dreaming or I was bit by one of those green things again."

Freakout in 3...2...

The coyote grinned.

Cue flail.

There might have been some minor property damage.

Coyote laughed himself right off that stool.

"What the hell was that?" Jack exclaimed, peering out from ~~Handwavey shelfy thing ~~that he was hiding behind.~~~~

Coyote finished chuckling and looked up. "What was what?"

"That! You were a sleeping man and now you're a wolf!"

Jack may not be aware of the differences between species of canid when busy rebooting his brain.

"And a hat!"

The coyote snorted and then changed, growing slightly in size and shifting in fur weight and color, among other things.

Its eyes remained resolutely yellow.

"No, now I'm a wolf."

Jack was blinking like a hummingbird flapping. "How did you do that?" he asked, popping up a bit out of where he was ~~hiding~~ currently standing.

"It's what I am."

"What is? What is what you am?"

This man was either very wise, or a complete idiot.

Coyote kinda like him.

He shifted back into human form, the wolf's fur changing color and thickness again until it was back to being a coyote headdress.

"Me."

Jack's the smartest idiot anyone'll ever find.

"...Cool!"

*wishes she could sleep, toooooo*
