Hurley opened up the shop, feeling pretty good about himself. He played Rush's Moving Pictures album to keep himself occupied today, while he stood behind the counter.

It was going to be a good day, he felt.

Chad came in today partly because he was bored and partly because he had some sort of managerial tasks to take care of in the back, and, besides, he liked dropping in to catch up with the others working at the store on occasion.

"Hey, Hurley; what's up?"

"Hey Chad," Hurley said. "Ummmm, not much. Just sort... working. Oh, I got a second job, I guess? Over at the flower shop."

"Everyone's gettin' second jobs, it seems," Chad noted. "Teddy just got one at the comic book store." He shook his head slightly. "I'll never see him again."

"Why flowers?"

"Oh, was just looking around," Hurley said. "Ino worked there and there... I guess there was stuff I could learn."

Or he'd gone and done it to prove to Ino he could.

"If I ever need anything with flowers," Chad said, knowing that he probably never, ever would, "I know who to go to. How you like it there so far?"

"Well, the owner's nice," Hurley said. "She's funny and has a cool, like, accent. And I only worked there yesterday, so far. It was quiet. Guess Halloween isn't a big flowers holiday."

"Just wait 'til Valentine's Day," Chad said, his tone suggesting that, come February, he would not at all want to be in Hurley's shoes.

"...oh dude," Hurley said. "That's not on a Friday, is it?"

"...No idea," Chad admitted.

Then, he held up a finger and went to the back, where the office was. A moment later, he returned.

"Saturday," he said. "Tough luck, you got the day before."

"...Yeah, that'll be not fun," Hurley said. "But I guess I'll get the satisfaction of... helping people be happy?"

"Dude," Chad said, shaking his head, "if you need that Saturday off because every single time you close your eyes, you see flower orders, I'll totally understand."

Hurley chuckled. "Nah, I'll be okay. Figure it'll be quiet, with everyone else doing date and couple stuff."
