It turned out Ino was right, and giving up smoking was a sure route to grouchiness. The leftover aura of birthday party good mood surrounding Romeo fell away at the first irritation -- a pin someone, he was certain, had purposely placed in a shirt exactly where it would strike him as he unfolded it for display.
He swore loudly and sucked the bead of blood off his finger. This would be a terrific day.
