Wellspring Arms & Meditation Center, Wednesday

Yesterday had been fun, and the good mood from that carried over so that Ino was cheerful while she went about opening the store, making sure everything was clean, and fussing with her plants.

Once that was all done, she settled in Cable-san's chair to practice her mental walls for a bit. Eventually, though, that got tiresome and she wandered into the meditation room to practice her spear work.

Wellspring Arms is Open.

Mod your meditation, or ask Ino to help. Ino is also here, in the afternoon, practicing her spear work.

"Keep your back up straighter," Cable commented. He was standing in the doorway with his own psimitar resting in his metal hand, at ease. "You're leaving yourself open."

Ino blinked--mildly surprised that he'd come down, but working with it--and straightened up. And making a face at the difference that made.

"Yes, Cable-san," she said, glancing over at him. "You going to practice too?"

"I'm checking in on your progress," he said. Which was, apparently, an answer.

It was a clearer one than some of the others she'd gotten from him before.

Ino... suspected she was going to ache tonight. And part of her felt like grinning, so she ducked her head a bit. "I'll do my best," she replied.

"Good," he said, dryly, pointed his spear, got it under Ino's and brought it up, all in one fast move. "It's barely worth it otherwise."

That got a half step back as her hands tightened around the spear.

"I know that," she said, because really, it was practically what she lived by. Another quick step back and she swung the spear in a controlled arc at his knees. It wasn't anywhere near as fast as it should've been to actually hit, but Ino was still having trouble with just the weight of the weapon and was pleased enough that the movement was as smooth as it was.

It was probably no surprise that Cable's weapon came down to block it easily-- a relatively minor move. "Faster," he simply said, patiently.

She just nodded, swinging it again, but higher. Bracing herself a bit more with her legs, the movement wasn't quite as smooth, but it was a bit faster.

Ino didn't bother with excuses because there weren't any good ones or rather, there were, but they weren't ones she cared for. It would just take more work.

With a solid thwinging sound, the side of Cable's psimitar blocked it again.

"Faster," he repeated, taking a quick step backwards to steady himself, and to give her the opportunity. "Think about your legwork."

"Yes, Cable-san," she said, frowning slightly as she tried to obey both orders, and ignore the slow ache in her arms. Faster, they did not appreciate.

Shifting back quickly, being careful to keep her weight as evenly distributed between both legs, Ino swung her spear at him.

He caught it again, of course; it still wasn't that hard. But... "Better," Cable decided, lowering his psimitar a few inches. "Work on that one," he continued, "Build up some more muscle tissue in your arms."

Ino suspected her arms were going to hate her for that.

"I will," she promised. "Already mentally added it to the list." Of things she needed to work on.

"Don't forget about your feet and your back," Cable said, a little sternly, as he turned for the door, "With a weapon that size, your entire body works along."

She flushed a bit. "Yes, sir."

Cable granted her one nod of approval, then slipped out into the hall.

She set her jaw, nodded to his back, then then focused on her spear work, and settled in for a long afternoon.

And sore arms.
