Trooper Station; Monday. [ 11/17 ]

There was a new toaster at the Trooper Station that Monday. There was also a Daisy feeling quite proud of her contribution to the betterment of the place as a whole, as well as a lot of cupcakes.

A lot of cupcakes, many of which were disappearing at an alarming rate through the mouth of Ralph.

Daisy was still boggling a little over how someone could make so many cupcakes; Ralph's consumption of them wasn't helping either, but she had some antacid tablets as well as a concoction of honey and lemon juice for the almost inevitable onslaught of indigestion.

She had to admit, though, it was a bit fascinating to watch and pulled her attention from her work more than she would have liked.

Sarah had heard on the radio that there was a new sheriff, and it seemed like time to introduce herself. She was dressed professionally this morning as she walked into the station, grinning a greeting at Daisy.

"Relatively, sure," Sarah said, eyes roaming restlessly around the station. "Is the new sheriff around this morning?"

"I can wait," Sarah said, with a tiny apologetic smile. She found a chair near Daisy's desk and sat, crossing her legs almost primly. "You're ex-London P.D., right?"

"Chasing numbers?" Sarah rubbed her neck, thinking about that. "I would never have the attention span for that."

She liked problems she could point a gun at.

With a cup of coffee in one hand and a cupcake in the other dale approached the young woman who appeared to be waiting for him.

"Miss? Can I help you?"

[identity profile] saveyoulater.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps," Sarah said, rising from her seat. "I'm Sarah Walker. You're Sheriff Cooper?"

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"As of this morning? Yes. Officially," Dale said nodding toward his office. "Would you prefer to speak in private? Also help yourself to a cupcake."

[identity profile] saveyoulater.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Your office might be better," Sarah agreed, standing to follow. "And congratulations, by the way. I came in a few weeks ago and was told to talk to the sheriff, and then the position changed hands before I made it back."

She grabbed a cupcake, though she just held it in her hand. Better not to make an announcement with frosting on her nose.

"Bit of a surprise to me as well," Dale said standing behind his desk and gestured for Sarah to take a seat. "The former sheriff just put in his notice last Friday, but I think transition-wise we'll be all right. Now how can I be of service?"

Going NFB, please!

"I have two jobs," Sarah explained, running a hand through her hair. "One is running the comics shop in town. That's going great. The other is this." She pulled out her CIA badge and passed it over the counter. "Obviously I'm undercover, but I want to work with law enforcement here in any way I can."

Which meant, please let me see your files, please.

Since he'd gotten visited (even if she lived there, he still considered it a visit since she'd stopped) last week, Loki decided to pay back the favor.

Hence, his entrance into the police station with a big grin on his face.

"Nothing's wrong," he said immediately. "Except for the fact that I woke up way too fucking early."

[identity profile] flipped-god-off.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why did I wake up too early?" He shrugged easily. "Restless night. Stupid stupid dreams. And the promise of a new day ahead of me."

He paused.

"That sounded super corny, didn't it? Tell me it did."

"Days haven't been so bad," he admitted with a light shrug. "I'm still alive, right? In this day and age, that's a fucking accomplishment. And I got that damn Christmas lights working. Thanks for your help, by the way."

After his meeting with the Mayor, Dale returned to the office and started on his fourth cup of coffee for the day. He took. A moment or two to check on the consumption of cupcakes and the shiny new Toaster that had appeared in the office.

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Dale chuckled at that. "It's just a change of title, Daisy. Feel free to continue to call me 'Coop' if you so please. So yes, the mayor approved me as the new Sheriff. However I don't plan on making any big procedural changes of any sort at the moment."

[identity profile] pieandcoffee.livejournal.com 2008-11-17 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Dale caught the dubious look towards the coffee machine and tried to hide a grin. "Well as far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be anything that needs to be changed around here. Unless a request comes down from the Mayor's office we shall stay the course."

He did pause a moment before adding: "However I would like to know where the toaster came from."
