Town Hall, Monday

He hadn't realised there had been that much paperwork before Robin came along. Still, Cable could handle it with his usual blend of self-control and pragmatism. Yep.

After about an hour of that, he wondered if he was just out of practice, or whether he shouldn't invent some brand of paperwork that could be done by smashing it with something heavy. Privately, he was starting to consider the theory that Fandom had been created as some kind of repository for left-over paper.

He sighed, sliding the latest piece of paper into the inbox, and glanced up at his assistants. "We're going to need some civic improvement programs..."

Dutifully, they went and got him more paperwork. Ah, bureaucracy. He really needed to tackle that problem...

Dale rapped his knuckles on the door and poked his head into Cable's office. "Mr. Mayor? Dale Cooper. Is this a good time to talk?"

"Thank you, sir," Dale said unbuttoning his coat as he took a seat. "I assume you've had a chance to talk with General Mustang regarding his departure?"

"Understandable," Dale said with a nod. "I'm happy to discuss my background with you and answer any question you might have regarding my qualifications. Before I came to Fandom I spent the last ten years working for the Federal Bureau of Investigations working in various divisions including counter intelligence, organized crime, behavior analysis group and the criminal investigation division. I've worked for the Fandom Police Department for almost a year and a half under the former Sheriff and have done my best to serve the community."

Dale chuckled. "The paperwork I'm more than aware of. I watched Roy struggle with that pile on a daily basis and I've covered for the Sheriff on more than one occasion when he had business off of the island. Additionally I've worked several action plans for the police department to take if some of the stranger events that have hit our island occur again."

"Well one of the more milder events was the genderswapping incident," Dale said pulling out a binder, "For that I recommended we have suitable female garments and undergarments for the troopers so they would not be hampered in their frequent patrols. For the events where either the school or the adults on the island miraculously de-aged, I've looked into a supply of carnival supplies in order to keep the young people in a safe contained areas."

"Thank you, sir" Dale said as he pulled out a business card from his binder and handed over to Cable. "This would the name of the supplier I intended to use while we were still located near Alexandria. As soon as I can locate one closer to our current location I will forward that along."

"Of course," Dale agreed. "I'll forward you a copy of the plans for you to review as well as any updates on conditions for the island and any operational changes or procedures that will need your approval."

"Thank you, Mr. Mayor," Dale said standing up and offering his hand. "I promise you that you will not regret your decision."
