Chilly Boulder, Sunday
Rikku had a Plan. Or at least, Rikku was going to meddle shamelessly in the affairs of other people. That, too. So she was going to drag her little sib out for ice cream and interrogation. Ice cream helped with interrogation. Seriously.
She was going to bounce and wait and bounce some more.
(Expecting the little sib, but OPEN for all your ice creamery needs.)

"Yay!" Momoko called out as soon as she saw her. "Hiiiii Rikku!!"

Desert girl: sulking again.

She shrugged. "I get all your holidays messed up anyway."

"Umm. I think it is for some people? But you don't celebrate it like that unless you believe in that religion and I'm not, so I don't. You can celebrate just the parts like the presents and Santa giving presents for kids. We do the lights and sometimes Christmas trees, and, oh! There's a Christmas cake, too!" She frowned. "Since it's sometimes religious, does that mean I can't get you a gift? I usually buy gifts for my closest friends, and I didn't think it would be a problem here."

Any excuse for mass gift-giving sounded like a good one, really.

She was already trying to get ideas for people. Hmmm. And speaking of romance ... she took a spoonful of her sundae and tried to artfully change the topic.
"I should ask someone who's from around here, who'd know about it, to see if they're gonna celebrate here, too," she said, pretending to think it over. "I think Warren is. Isn't he?"

Innocent face. Innocent face. More ice cream, and work on the innocent face.

"Sharing cookies? Ah! Then were those cookies at my door from you? Thank you! They were great! Warren thought they were from a secret admirer, but I knew they couldn't be." She dug into her ice cream again.

She smiled. "But when I told Warren that boys don't usually date girls who talk about robots and can quote superhero stats and stuff, he did get mad. That was nice."

And had blushed when she brought it up later. That, too.

She leaned in towards Rikku, conspiratorially. "He needs lot of hugs! He is a great guy, right? He keeps trying to tell me he's not and that he's got a temper and all this other bad stuff, but when I showed up at his door and dragged him to homecoming, he didn't yell at me, and then when I was blind, he was all worried and the other day he called to wish me a happy thankgiving! And he never tells me to go away or shut up or calm down or anything."

Okay, so. How to ... ask. That was the hard part.
She took another spoonful of ice cream. "How long have you guys been ...... friends?" she asked.
