Town Hall, Monday

"I just think," Cable said, shifting his coffee cup across the table, "That the Rumeki might do better with an outsider to direct their talks."

"I might've been your political babysitter," Irene muttered through the phone, "That doesn't mean I can micro-manage a bunch of overzealous politicians to that extent."

Cable smiled briefly. "Just tell them to sit and play nice."

"Yeah," she said, dryly, "I can see where that would go over well..."

"Sometimes, people just need a little guidance. A nudge in the right direction." He picked up his cup and sipped it. The island-given cocoa wasn't bad, he had to admit. "It is their first go at a fair democracy, Irene. And they've always been willing to work for it."

"Yeah, yeah." There was an audible sigh on the other end of the line. "Oh, who am I kidding. You already know I'm going to wind up doing it."

"Yep," he said, simply, and opened up another file with his unoccupied hand.

Regardless of whether Robin had celebrated American Thanksgiving or not, the Monday after a long weekend is always terrible.

Which was why she was not quite awake when she arrived on Monday morning, though she was dressed as sharply as ever. The only sign that anything was amiss was the fact that she was clinging to her coffee cup.

"The Monday after a long break always sucks?" she supplied.

[NOTIFICATION FAIL OMG.]
