After spending the morning familiarizing herself with her computer system, Lindsay was now trying to compose and e-mail to her friends back home- Scratch that. An e-mail to her friends back in San Francisco. Only problem was how do you e-mail your friends about a place like Fandom without sounding crazy?

"Hey guys. Things are going well here. Everyone is very nice and there are aliens, people from other centuries living here and my boss likes to build robotic armor for himself," Linz said reading aloud what she wrote and then promptly deleted it.

No reason to make them think she had really got nuts.

Loki didn't have anything better to do so he made a stop into the shop that he was pretty sure one his tenants worked in. Maybe he could make her do some handywoman stuff after all.

She wasn't behind the counter though. Not a big loss. "You're new."

He was so observant.

Strangely enough she's had worse greetings. "Yeah," Lindsay drawled sarcastically. "I've got a warranty and everything. Can I help you?"

"Just passing through," he said breezily. "I've seen this place a few times but hadn't ever come in. Pity for me, I missed the girl with the warranty arriving into town. You're missing the shine, though."

"Yeah, well it's a really crappy warranty," Linz replied. "I lost my luster the second day here. Hang on a second."

She flashed him a fake grin that lasted two seconds before going back to her regular expression.

"That work for you?"

Ooh, she was fun. And that was fun for him.

"Add a thumbs up and maybe I'll give you a shiny nickel," he retorted with a wide grin of his own.

Oh, this guy is fun. Cute too. Probably a serial killer knowing Linz's luck.

"Gee," she said returning the grin, "if I give you two thumbs up will you give me a tarnished dime?"

Loki reached into the pockets of his jeans, pulling out a stick of gum, a few pennies and a paperclip.

"What's that get me?" he asked. "Ooh, a dance. Do a jig!"

Tyler wanted to see if Tony might be free for lunch, so he swung by the shop and raised his eyebrows at the brunette. "You aren't Tony or Pepper."

... he was a genius.

"Um. No. I'm going to at least need a pack of juicy fruit brfore that happens," she snarked back.

"Well, fuck," he said and reached into his other pocket. "Raincheck? Oh, what about layaway? Let me put if on layaway. Pay a little now, pay a little later and I get that dance in pieces!"

What is with this place? Can't Tony get a receptionist?

"I'm also not a Donnie or a Marie," she replied briefly looking up from her computer. "Can I help you?"

"I was going to see if Tony was free for lunch," Tyler said, bouncing some change in his pockets and looking over Lindsay's shoulder. "Who are you, though?"

"Okay, now you're getting a little creepy," Lindsay joked. "And besides I only dance if I get paid up front."

"I prefer call it creative," he said but pocketed the crap he'd dumped on the counter in front of him. "I'll be sure to bring payment next time. Where did you come from anyway? If you tell me fucking space, I might have to start banging my head against something."

"I'm Lindsay Boxer," she said moving her monitor slightly so Tyler couldn't read what she was writing. "Pepper hired me on to overlook security because someone got hijacked out of the office not too long ago. Are you a friend of Tony's?"

"Oh, do not get me started on that," Linz said already getting spun up on the subject. "I mean, Jesus, someone was telling me about people being from other centuries and hiring talking frogs! What the fuck is up with this ace?"

"I don't fucking know," he said, agreeing with her vehemently despite what he was. At least he was from the planet. "I thought meeting a few people from other fucking countries was a reach but now I've got people telling me their from times when Washington was the president or living on some planet that only exists in movies."

"Finally! Somebody who agrees with me!" Linz exclaimed throwing her hands in the air for emphasis. "Don't get me wrong, I mean people are nice and all that but what the fuck?"

"Oh, but it's weird and strange and you get used to it," he said, miming some of the explanations he'd heard. "Yeah, right. I'm waiting for someone to tell me they were fucking hatched for an egg or they're a plant or some shit."

"I'm the one who got hijacked," Tyler said. "Tyler Durden. You're the babysitter?"

Tony wasn't lying; she was hot.

Linz held up her index finger and waved it in air dramatically. "I swear to GOD if some tells me I'll get used to it one more time I'm getting my gun and shooting them in the head!"

"Ooh, a woman who likes her weapons!" Loki said and fanned himself. "You might be my new favorite person on this island. I'd testify for you in court. Be your alibi."

"Babysitter implies I can control Tony's behavior," Lindsay said with a smirk, "And also it- Wait. You were the one who got kidnapped? I don't suppose you could tell me what happened becuase Tony is tightlipped on the subject."

"Mistaken identity," Tyler said vaguely. "I talked to the sheriff, he has my report. I doubt I know anything Tony hasn't told you."

That got a loud laugh out of Lindsay. "For the record I'm usually pretty discriminating on who I aim my gun at but it's nice to know I have a complete stranger as a character witness," she said before standing up and offering her hand. "I'm Lindsay. Just got into town last week."
