After spending the morning familiarizing herself with her computer system, Lindsay was now trying to compose and e-mail to her friends back home- Scratch that. An e-mail to her friends back in San Francisco. Only problem was how do you e-mail your friends about a place like Fandom without sounding crazy?

"Hey guys. Things are going well here. Everyone is very nice and there are aliens, people from other centuries living here and my boss likes to build robotic armor for himself," Linz said reading aloud what she wrote and then promptly deleted it.

No reason to make them think she had really got nuts.

"Ooh, a woman who likes her weapons!" Loki said and fanned himself. "You might be my new favorite person on this island. I'd testify for you in court. Be your alibi."

That got a loud laugh out of Lindsay. "For the record I'm usually pretty discriminating on who I aim my gun at but it's nice to know I have a complete stranger as a character witness," she said before standing up and offering her hand. "I'm Lindsay. Just got into town last week."

He bypassed giving out a fake name fairly quickly. She'd talked about weapons. The way to his proverbial heart.

"Loki," he said, taking the offered hand. "It's Scandinavian. Parents were fucking hippies."

Okay, that was a little lie.

"Loki, huh?" She chuckled. "They must have expected a lot of trouble out of you if they named you after the god of mischief"

"Well, they didn't get it wrong," he said and grinned. "I had to live up to my name, didn't I? Grow into it, cause trouble, be worthy of that name."

"Gosh," she said with a smirk. "I'm so surprised. You just seem like such a sweet and innocent guy."

Oh. The snark. It burns.

"Well, I am," he said, eyes wide. "I like long walks on the beach, sitting by the fireplace and reading Walt Whitman and writing poetry to ready to pretty woman while they smile at me from their windows."

Now it was Linz's turn to pretend to fan herself. "Oh. My. How is it you don't have women throwing themselves at you as son as you walk in the room?" She said in a mock-swoonish tone.

"How do you know that I don't?" Loki asked, amused. "I mean, sure, you didn't but that's because we didn't know each other. Now, we do. Next time, I bet you'll do it too."

Or laugh at him.

And that would be a rather loud snort of amusement coming from Linz.

"Maybe I should just skip waiting next time and just rip all my clothes off now."

"I would be just fine with that," he said and smiled ever so sweetly. "I could take mental pictures!"

"You sure about that?" Lindsay asked. "I could have a ton of scar tissue and open wounds under here. Might be an ugly mental picture."

"Pfft, they add character," he said. "Well, the open sores might be a little disconcerting. I'd probably go get you a box of fucking bandaids. Much more sanitary. But...I think you probably look fine under there."

"And amazingly you're one of the more normal people I've met on this island," Linz said shaking her head in amusement.

"I try," he said and shrugged. "Someone's gotta be normal while the people from the past run around, trying to figure out what the hell electricity is."

"Okay, so far I haven't had to meet any of those people," Lindsay groaned. "I'll try to resist the urge to hurt them."
