Covent Garden Flowers, Friday 12/12

Hurley opens up the flower shop with a grin on his face. He's been having a rather excellent week.

He'd totally be giving people discounts on their flowers today. He just wasn't going to advertise it, in case his boss had problems with that.

Hoshi hadn't seen her little sibling in a while, so she braved the elements to head over to the flower shop.

"Hi Hurley!" she said while dusting the powdered sugar off herself. "Can you believe this weather?"

Hoshi laughed. "If it had to snow, at this makes it easier to take," she said. "I'd rather not see it start raining frogs or something like that."

"I'm sure we'll get the real stuff soon enough," said Hoshi. "Maybe not a lot of it, but it's not unusual. So, how have you been? I haven't seen you much lately."

"That's good!" said Hoshi. "A lot of people tend to freak out around finals. People like me, usually, but my class load is a little easier this semester."

"That's a good attitude to have," said Hoshi. "I freaked out a bit last year, and it didn't really help. Besides, I don't think the extra studying made a difference in some cases. It's nice to just relax and enjoy the season."

"I suppose with that class, you pass if no one dies from your cooking," said Hoshi with a slight smirk. "Home Ec at least throws me a curveball because the final covers sewing."

"We had to make pants from a pattern, but just figuring out how to use the sewing machine was hard enough for me," said Hoshi. "I've never used one before. I think I could make a shirt, maybe."

"I'm not sure how useful it will be once I get to Starfleet, unless I get stranded on some deserted planet and have to make my own clothes," joked Hoshi.

Hoshi giggled. "Yeah. I mean, I don't know about your time period but the chances of that happening in my time are pretty rare."

"And once you start getting GPS locators, it'll be so easy to find stuff all over the world," added Hoshi.

"Still, it's a pretty useful skill to have," said Hoshi. "We have all sorts of technology at home, but my grandmother refused to use it. That's why I learned how to cook."

"We have protein re-sequencers that can replicate food, but the ones from my time don't work very well yet," explained Hoshi. "I have one that only seems to work for liquids, and with some food, the taste is all wrong."

"It would be awesome if it actually worked," said Hoshi. "I think I could only get weak tea and chocolate milk from mine before I gave up. The chocolate milk was pretty good, though."
