Twas two days before Christmas and all through the lobby, the decorations were twinkling and Loki was reading like it was a hobby.

Or like he was utterly fucking bored. One or the other.

There was a stack of gifts on the desk, messily wrapped and slapped with bows to cover places where the paper ripped or ran out. There were actual gifts in the boxes but Loki had gotten bored halfway through and forgot what was in which box. That'd make for some interesting reveals whenever he started randomly giving them out to people he tolerated.

...people he liked. Shut up.

For now, the lobby lights were off and he was reading by Christmas lights.

[He'll give a gift to just about anyone. BUT. The gift might be something completely inappropriate and/or a gag gift for those he doesn't know very well.]

I wish everyone at work would go on vacation so I could goof off more often than I do.

Simon figured he should have done this a long time ago, and Loki had probably figured out for himself that Simon didn't want the apartment, but perhaps the holiday made him in a better mood.

He entered the lobby. "Good morning. I just wanted to let you know that I'll be staying at the hotel, so I won't be needing an apartment."

Loki looked up at the entrance and started smiling when he recognized the guy who'd been in a few weeks ago.

"Aww, too bad!" Loki said, snapping his fingers in mock sadness. "I was so hoping you'd choose this place. We could have been the best of friends."

"I doubt that," Simon said, although he smiled back, looking amused at the idea. "But I wanted to let you know."

"What made you change your mind?" Loki had to ask. It seemed like the thing a landlord would ask even if he didn't much care.

After a pause, Simon decided to be truthful. "Your attitude left a lot to be desired."

"It's part of my charm," he said and smiled sweetly. "But really, you're going to let one person's attitude stop you from doing something? That's cute!"

"I have a comfortable room at the hotel, and Mary insists I can stay," Simon replied, making a little too much of an effort to keep his voice calm. Perhaps that was due to that 'cute' comment.

"It's also a hotel," Loki said and rolled his eyes. "Which means it's not really your space. You get someone else's used towels."

"Where I stayed before I occasionally got someone else's used unwashed towels. Now they're clean, and I don't have to wash them." He ran a hand through his hair. "Why am I having this discussion?" It wasn't a question.

"Because you liiiiiiiiiiiiike me," Loki teased. "Or else you're really hard up for conversation."

He reached for one of the small wrapped gifts next to him.

"Want a gift? (http://www.prankplace.com/toiletmonster.htm) Peace offering."

Biff came into the room rocking a ~~ridiculous~~ (http://www.chachaboutique.com/grfx/sock_monkey_hat.jpg) awesome piece of headgear, a gift in his hands. "Peace on earth, give me presents!"

The sad thing was, he did need more friends around here, which was probably why he was bored enough to continue this conversation.

A little reluctantly, Simon accepted the present. It seemed sensible. "Well, I shouldn't keep you busy any longer," he said.

"Aww, but peace is so boring!" Loki said, reaching for the gift (http://www.smithbrothers.com/product.asp?pn=X3-42023&sid=nextag&CATALOG_CODE=SX832&EID=X3832001&zmam=1460880&zmas=2&zmac=37&zmap=X3-42023) that he'd gotten special for Biff. "And that's is quite the fucking hat. Wow."

"Yeah, I'm real busy," he said, looking around. "You can stop by anytime. I'm not really that bad and you are cute."

Just for reaction.

Simon's eyes widened. "Uh, I see." Then he turned and hurried out of the lobby, telling himself he wouldn't return again.

Loki started laughing as he scurried out and went back to his book.

"I got it free with my purchase of other awesome hats," he said, tossing Loki his gift (http://www.foureyesjokeshop.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=884) before tearing into his. "Hot," he proclaimed, grinning.

"I thought you'd like those," Loki said, ripping into his own and then laughing with delight when he saw it. "My hat!"

And it was already on his hat. Now they matched in awesome headgear.

"Any good Casanova has to have a good pair of leather chaps. You almost got a pink cape."

"I think the cape might've clashed with my feather boa," Biff teased, pulling the chaps out and laying them up against his legs. "These'll get a lot of use," he said. "Thanks!"

"If you ever go out riding bulls, you have to let me know so I can come and laugh at you," Loki said. "Meeeeeeeerry Christmas, ho ho ho."

His Santa impression needed work.

"You're welcome. Glad you like them. Thanks for my hat!"

He spun the propeller.

"You're welcome," Biff replied, "even if your Santa impression needs work."

"Let's hear yours, then," Loki said. "Come on, big shot."
