Luke's Diner, Thursday

Priestly was dressed exactly as advertised in his "Tip me or DIE" t-shirt in honor of his first shift at the diner, his mohawk large and red, his jeans thoroughly trashed.

The kitchen crew didn't much know what to make of him. Especially when he got into the debate about the disappearance of Amelia Earhart with the dishwasher.

Today's Specials
Roast Turkey sub with provolone and sprouts
Tofu and lentil soup
Pecan pie

Luke's was open.

After Claudia was finished with her shift at the library, she wandered into town, still dressed in what she'd worn to work: pinstriped hotpants over dark blue tights, bright pink suspenders, and one of her dad's work shirts over a white tank top.

Her hair was tucked up in a bun held in place by chopsticks, and her earrings were a very subdued pair of lacquered watermelon slices. On anyone else, it'd look like she'd mugged a deranged drag queen. On Claudia, it looked great.

"I am starving," she declared overdramatically, finding a place to sit.

"I hate when that happens," she said, pouting. "Guess I'll have to sit here and eat salt-covered napkins or something."

Claudia grinned. "Great place to keep that," she said. "Don't suppose all of the milkshake fixings are gone too?"

Claudia stared at him blankly. "Hmm?"

Poor Claudia. No one's mentioned it's not 1991.

More staring. "Is it a song?"

The dancing was totally adorable.

"You didn't say you were from the future!" Claudia gasped.

Liir never came into Luke's, or at least he hadn't since Michael had left. That said, he was making his way around town and didn't feel like eating anything he had in his bag and so in one of those very rare times, he decided to eat out.

He looked around, mostly muscle memory from the other times he'd come in, and found someone there he most definitely didn't recognize.

Figuring the other boy for being another new student, he smiled and offered a nod of his head in greeting before taking a seat and looking in his bag for something to read.

He looked over the specials thoughtfully and considered what he really wanted.

"The sub, if you please," he said.

"I'm hungrier than I thought I might be."

He peered up at Priestly and wondered if the boy's hair was usually that color of if he'd merely dyed it so.

"New to the island?"

"Just water, if you don't mind," he added.

"Going to the school or..."

He noticed the last and oddly enough, it made him smile just a little bit more as he reached out and took the hand for a firm shake.

"A pleasure to meet you and welcome. Liir. I'm a Sophmore this year."

He blinked and sort of tilted his head as one might see a bird do.

"Er, I'm not really the best at stories. Is that tradition where you come from? I mean..."

He blushed a little and ducked his head.

"I could try but I don't suppose most people find goldfish all that terrifying."
