Cable came into town hall relatively early, clinging to the coffee he'd snagged from the Perk on the way there. The law enforcement convention had gone off without a hitch, which was good; they'd done well in negotiations with the machines and with the power issues in the ensuing week.

The local level was well-organised. Time to start planning more towards the future.

As soon as he sat down, he called Irene.

"This is my lunch break, you know," she muttered.

"I'm sure the pineapple yogurt will keep."

"I hate you."

"Let's talk about Gareb. And Gaza."

"Lunch'll wait."

When she pings in.

Funny how Robin still looked smug this week. It was almost like this was going to become her normal expression around certain people.

"Miss Scherbatsky," Cable greeted. He was the king of smug, and his own aura of it would ward off any of hers.

"Good morning!" she chirped, beaming. Smugly.

"How was your week?" he asked, politely, and sipped his coffee.

Irene would say polite was a bad sign.

"Boring," Robin said, watching him and trying not to bounce or anything. Because she sooooooooooo wanted to ask things but she wasn't going to.

"Must've been nice," Nate noted, "No violence..."

"Why, was there violence for you?" she asked eagerly.

"I think that in the department of advice, you could use some work," he said, mildly. "Maybe a seminar."

"Hey, it worked!" she protested, her aloofness and smugness forgotten.

"Depends on your definition of 'worked'," Nathan replied. "You did say you were bored."

"I already talked to Wade, I know it worked," she assured him, the smugness returning.

"Again," he replied, unphased, "It depends on your definition of 'worked', miss Sparkles."

Oh, yes. He went there.

She stared.

"...excuse me?"

"I've got some documents that need to be mailed to the Israeli Minister of Defense," Nathan continued. He had said nothing. Nothing. "Give some thought to that seminar."

"No, no, no, you called me that name," she accused, still staring in something like horror.

"What's in a name?" he deadpanned.

"Um, everything," she said, now glaring.

"Israel," Cable repeated. Easily. "Seminar. No more advising Wade to punch me to get a paycheck..."

"I just wanted everyone to be happy," Robin said, shrugging. "And it worked, so there."

Cable eyed her for another moment.

"Don't plan any double dates, ms. Scherbatsky," he said, finally.

That was a 'fine' in his tongue.
