Town Hall, Monday

It was the usual Monday set up at Town Hall: there was a cup of coffee in Cable's hands, there was a phone by Cable's ear, and Irene was calling him names over the phone between thoughtful conversations.

He was also filling in some extra details about the new kids. Good to keep on top of everything.

You know, Deadpool had never actually seen Nate's office.

"...I liked the one in Providence better."

"It's the space," Nate replied, lounging in his impressive office chair. "Might have to move a few filing cabinets..."

It really was impressive.

"And a fluffy cat," Wade suggested.

"I think the dog," Nate said, decisively, "Is bad enough. Looking for more books...?"

Wade looked heartbroken there. Really. "I can't visit you at work now?"

"You never have," he pointed out, mildly, "But I'm not surprised, if that helps." He glanced at one of the aides. "Coffee?"

"Do you have anything to Irish it up?"

"That might end badly," Nate deadpanned.

"How so?" Wade asked, poking about at the things in the room. Because he could.

"Alcohol in an office," he supplied. "Might be bad planning."

The aide had run off somewhere halfway into that.

"...I'm still not following."

"PR," he pointed out, "But never mind." A pause. "...How much whiskey do you keep in your office?"

"I work with children, Nate. I need that to survive."

"Of course," he said, shooting him a look that laid somewhere between 'worried' and 'thoroughly amused'. "Zoe put it in the contracts, no doubt."

Wade looked back, eyes comically wide. "...we have contracts?"

"You do," Nate offered, "I'll check the sample copies for alcohol."

"You have no sense of humor."

"That's in the eye of the beholder," Nate said, soberly.

He might have been deadpanning it.

"None!"

"And yet you're here," he said, and signed something. Something big and administrative, no doubt.

"So I am." Wade took a seat on the edge of his desk, looking around. "How soundproofed is this room?"

"Well enough to keep listening ears out," Nate said, with a twitch of his eyebrow. "Why?"

Wade flopped back, getting in the way of his stuff. "Should I draw you a map?"

Nate blinked at him for a few moments. "No," he said, finally, choosing his words carefully, "You don't." He eyed the door. No squirrels.

He eyed Wade.

Wade eyed him right back.

He might have been twiddling his thumbs a bit.

"My office, Wade?" he asked at last.

The lock did go suspiciously click, though.

"We've pretty much broken in your place," Wade pointed out, already working on getting rid of his weapons.

"True," he said, carefully. "Hm."

Well, they could always bodyslide out of there. He reached over to pull on Wade's mask to help.

"Fast," he said.

"...get undressed fast? Or fast sex?"

"The latter," Nate agreed, and pulled off his own belt. "There's no squirrels."

And, pants go down! "Nate, you're the mayor. Shouldn't you have a get out of radio free card somewhere?"

"I probably should," he agreed again, getting rid of any grenades he might have had on him still.

"Just keep a pile of rum down the hall," Wade suggested. "That'll keep 'em away."

"It just might, at that," he said, wryly, and leaned over to kiss him, one hand against his jaw.

When she pings in.

Robin had lost some money the day prior, and was in no mood today as a result.

So yes, Deputy Mayor Grumpypants was present.
