Photo Hut, Tuesday

Jack was flipping through some of the photography magazines, wondering what happened to those little Brownie cameras and then the Polaroid and the digital cameras...and trying to think about something to photograph, just for fun.

It probably wasn't the best day for Naomi to come in and see Jack while he was at work, for some reason she had been having a nagging thought at her saying that she should go and see him ~~because her mun was mean~~. Eventually she went down and picked up some burgers before stopping by at the Photo Hut, "Hi Jack," she smiled, "I missed you so I thought I'd stop by," that wasn't exactly how she intended to word it.

"Naomi! I'm glad to see you," he said with a grin. "This is a switch. Ooh, burgers?" Jack put the magazine down and leaned on the counter.

"I hope these are okay," Naomi said with a smile as she offered Jack his burger.

"No, no, these are great. I love burgers!" he said, nodding his head.

"I'm glad that you like burgers," Naomi smiled, "how have you been?"

"I've been lousy," he said, "and I feel like I'm not doing anything useful half the time." he just realized what he'd said. "I mean, I should just quit this job and find something that pays more." He clapped his hands over his mouth, wide-eyed.

"I'm sorry to hear that," Naomi said sympathetically, "maybe you should quit, this job doesn't seem all that exciting," it was out before she could stop herself. She looked horrified at what she had just said.

"But then I'd have nothing better to do on Tuesdays," he said, his eyes wide. "And I've been thinking that if I don't get a rig, I can always be a photographer." Why was he saying this?

"There'd be plenty of things to do on Tuesday," Naomi said, "I don't have class then, we could always hang out together..." Naomi really didn't like this.

"That's good! There's a ton of stuff on Tuesdays. Movies. Common rooms. Could always get a bite to eat. Stuff that we could do together." He blinked. "I have a roommate, though." What the hell was he saying?

"That would be fun to do," Naomi said before she could stop herself, "I have a roommate as well though,"

"Roommates are complicated," he stated, waving his hands in a flaily manner. "Did you know my roommate is a frog? Totally wigged me out. A frog!"

"I know what you mean," Naomi agreed without actually meaning to, "my roommate wears a kilt,"

"I think I may have met that guy. He looks kind of like my older brother, from Fandom. Not that we've talked in I don't know how long. I'm a bad Sibling. It's a good thing I don't have any more. Do you have siblings? Here at Fandom? Or out in Space?" At least Jack wasn't babbeling about not having a space without roommates...

"You're not a bad sibling," Naomi said, "I have had a few siblings here at Fandom, there's even a couple who are still here. I don't have siblings out in space though, I'm an only child. I wish that mum and dad would have had another child, it would be too late for that though,"

"Right, because if they had one now, you'd be called in for babysitting duty, and that's hard to do from space. I can't believe you're from space! And the future! And you have horns!"

This was not Jack's best day.

"Well, they'd have a bit of trouble because the ship that they're on isn't meant for children. Voyager was like that but mom didn't know she was expecting me until after the ship was lost, also Voyager's original mission was only supposed to be for a few weeks," Naomi babbled, "I didn't want Voyager to return home at first, I helped save the ship because I didn't want to leave,"

"Horns are practically nothing compared to some species," Naomi continued even though she was trying hard not to stop, "B'Elanna has ridges and so does Miral! Miral's a quarter Klingon!"

"B'Elanna, she's the scary one, right? It's not the ridges, she's just scary," he said, not even trying to stop anymore. "And if they are having children on a ship like that that doesn't have babysitters, then someone aught to call the athorities! You can't have babies in space!"

"B'Elanna's not always scary," Naomi replied, "she's really cool when you get behind the fact that sometimes she is," it was a good thing that B'Elanna wasn't hear listening to this, "and you can have babies in space, some spaceships are in fact designed to have families,"

"So they have giant nurseries in space? With babies and all that? But...how do they learn to walk if there's no gravity? And how do they make babies if there's no gravi--oh just shoot me now." He buried his face in his hands.

"But there is gravity on starships, well artificial gravity but it's pretty simple to understand," Naomi said, if of course someone was a Starfleet Engineer or just had to much time on their hands like Naomi, "but I don't want to shoot you, I'd miss you,"

"You can't miss me, I'm this giant blockhead right here the size of a barn--oh." He stared at her. Blinked a few times. "I'd miss you too."
