The Perk - Afternoon

In the mood for something warm to drink, Ichigo ended up in the Perk that afternoon. He wasn't aware of anything odd going on. Not even when he ended up oversharing just how bored he was and how much he would like not to be when the clerk asked him what he wanted.

It wasn't until the clerk asked him what he wanted to drink, that Ichigo realised what he'd done. He glowered at the guy, as if daring him to make a remark and ordered a salter caramel hot chocolate and took a seat at one of the tables. He made sure to have his back towards the counter.

Angela was well aware of the quirks of today already.

Her normal way of sharing most things that went through her head had it's benefits, but she was still very aware of her brain to mouth filter deficiency, which is why she only waved a greeting to Ichigo as she ordered her coffee.

Not talking took a lot of concentration, damn it.

"Hey," he greeted, not aware that shutting up would be wiser. The thing with the ordering had just been a fluke after all. "How's it going?"

"I gave a two year old the potential for future parent issues by telling her she wasn't real," Angela shared. That wasn't too bad. "It was the truth!" she felt compelled to add.

"Um..." He blinked at her. "Where did you find the two year old?" he finally settled on asking. It was the most normal part of her statement.

"Class," she replied, sitting down with her latte. "It was only a danger shop simulation, and I think I'd be better with a real one. At least a little bit."

"It's still one of those classes that makes you thank god for birth control, though."

It was a record, she hadn't well and truly sat down or Ichigo was flushing already. "I'm sure you would," he mumbled to the tabletop.

"Thank god for birth control or do okay with a kid?" Angela checked.

"The kid!" he quickly drank from his cup. "I'll just take your worth on the birth control thing."

"Aww. I think that's sweet," she said. "And you should. I like to think I know what I'm talking about."

She probably didn't mean for all of that to come out, as illustrated by the way she followed his 'drink not speak' regimen.

"You know more than me anyway," he said, which wasn't quite how he meant to respond. His eyebrows knitted together in concentration.

"Well, I figured that out from the way you get all twitchy when I talk about it," she said. "And Hannibal suggested the flailing was because you're a virgin." She winced, attempting to backtrack.

"...He brought that part up, not me!" Yeah, because that worked. Getting other people into trouble as well as herself, here. Way to go, Angela.

Ichigo stared at her and then the cup was put down with a soft thump. It was probably good it wasn't completely full anymore. "You know, I'd appreciate it if people would just mind their own business. I don't need anyone I haven't even talked to coming up with theories on how I should behave. My dad does a good enough job of that as it is."

"You were the one that called me talking about shirtlessness and pregnancy and set that whole conversation off!" Angela claimed.

"And I didn't want to say that," she winced. "Sorry."

"I never knew I was calling you!" he protested. "I'm not some kind of pervert who calls girls up and talks about that sort of thing!"

"I didn't think you were," Angela said quickly. Although that would make for an interesting kink..." She should really stop talking now.

"And I wouldn't normally discuss your sex life with anyone!" she told him. "I just end up talking about most things with Hannibal, except the important things, which is really ironic."

That still didn't seem to be the right answer. "So my non-existing sex life is unimportant enough for you to discuss it with someone else?"

Angela rubbed her forehead. "Yes?"

"That didn't come out right." Because no one would've worked that out otherwise.

"I have to agree with you there," he said grumpily, glaring at his hot chocolate now.

"I shouldn't be allowed to talk today," she decided. "You say something."

"Something," he mumbled crankily, glancing at the door but not seeing it.

"Is it seriously that weird?" he asked suddenly. "I mean, it's not like I'm the only guy who hasn't... You know. It's not like I don't like girls! I'm just... busy."

"It's not that weird," Angela said. "Just unusual. Kind of cute, really. Which is why I like teasing you about it."

He eyed her weirdly, willing himself not to blush at being called cute in some kind of way. "You need a different hobby," he said, his tone not as sullen as before.

"Probably," she allowed. "But I enjoy this one a little too much to stop."

"Sorry."
