The Arms Hotel Lobby, Wednesday

It had occurred to Jeff that something odd was going on yesterday, what with radio and everything, but it had appeared to pass over him. Some sort of honesty thing. Actually, Jeff was convinced that meant that Captain Subtext had clomped into town to give the people a good lesson about fearing and respecting your own fibs.

It didn't occur to Jeff that the reason it hadn't affected him at all was that most of what he said was what he thought anyway ('breasts, breasts, breasts, breasts breasts breasts').

He set up shop in the lobby, flopped over onto his desk, and started making little sketches of Captain Subtext. He could only imagine the havoc.

Turtle came into the hotel today, business as usual except for one thing. There were sandwiches, yes. There was the shouted greeting of, "Jeff!" But the different thing was that she went straight around the front desk rather quickly, throwing protocol to the wind, and started to cling.

"Did you know," Turtle informed him, squeezing a little, "that you're an excellent boyfriend, I love you, and that you've got very nice hair?"

Turtle smiled a little about that, and then there was a little bit of resting her head on Jeff's shoulder. "And do you think I've got pretty eyes?"

And that was, more or less, the answer that Turtle had been hoping for and expecting. Especially the best part. She sighed happily, comfortably shifting from cling to what could be be described as a draping.

"Good," she said. "I brought sandwiches, because you can't have a Wednesday without sandwiches, right?"

Turtle nodded a little, before taking a second to try to swing her hair back out of the way. "Jeff?" Turtle asked, a bit tentatively, because you really couldn't tell which way these things would go with him. "Did you notice anything weird yesterday?"

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-02-04 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think yesterday," Turtle noted dryly, "went a little beyond just subtext, Jeff."

"I didn't realize," Turtle noted, "that his helmet could do that."

"Jeff," Turtle said. "I'm a lawyer. I know about working a good lie or a bad one."

Turtle sighed. But there was nuzzling, and so she was definitely nuzzling back. "That would be bad," Turtle agreed. "I mean, it would be like breaking a very well-established trend of avoiding that for a while. And then it would be right back to square one."

Turtle smiled a little, lifting her hand to brush it a little against Jeff's head. "And you have been doing well at that. I think you're particularly good at 'Hi, Turtle!' But I might be biased."

Because she couldn't really think of anything to say to that, Turtle just decided to give Jeff on the cheek, and another squeeze of a hug. Because he deserved it, just for being him.

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
"You're not so bad yourself, you know," Turtle told him with a grin.

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, hey," Turtle pointed out, "I've never really been a girlfriend before, either."

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Awwwww." How could Turtle not beam at something like that?

"I love you, too, Jeff." And how could she not follow it up with a real kiss this time?

Since air eventually came to be an issue in matters such as kissing, Turtle eventually had to stop, and, when she did, she still stayed clingingly close as she asked, "Know what I think we should do today when you get off work?"

Turtle took a moment to debate with herself if she should really risk the productivity of the rest of Jeff's day by continuing, but she always had been about taking risks. And, somehow, her conversation with Sokka yesterday had her thinking that, hey, maybe she really did have the potential to do sexy better than she thought.

"More of this," she finally answered him, going in for another kiss.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. She'd write Mary an apology letter later.
