"Well ma'am," Dale said as he took a sip of coffee. "If you didn't want a ticket you shouldn't have gone up to the trooper and confessed that you jaywalked. Yes, I understand that you didn't want to tell him but unfortunately there's not much I can do about that. And the same to you ma'am, you have a nice day."

Dale sighed and got up to get another cup of coffee.

Definitely a six cup morning.
