Sheriff's Station: Wednesday

Dale was very quiet this morning in his office.

He was also without his usual coffee. And dougnuts. And Pie. In fact the only thing he seemed to be ingesting was the Pepto-Bismol on his desk.

Every so often he would give a wistful look toward the coffee station which had a nice fresh pot of coffee and a box of jelly doughnuts.

And for possible the first time since coming to the island, Dale might be a tad resentful to the island.

Daisy hadn't been so involved in her work that she couldn't feel a pretty good deal of sympathy for how notably far from his usual chipperness her boss was. She certainly wasn't going to ask, as it was none of her business, but she did think to offer, when she noticed his bottle going near empty, "Want I should run out and get some more for you, Coop?"

Daisy winced a little internally and gave a sheepish smile back.

She kept forgetting about that.

And, of course, her attempt to make up for it was just more backpedaling. "Sorry, sir. But it's good that you're backed up. Right thinking ahead there."

"And you didn't ask," Daisy reminded him, "I offered."

But she shook her head, as the point was pretty moot anyway.

"You feeling okay, though? I'm not sure it's safe for a human to consume that much of that stuff in one sitting."

Then again, a human probably couldn't normally consume the amount of coffee that Coop usually did in one sitting, either.

Daisy gave Coop a bit of a look that suggested first that he wasn't really expected to care and secondly that she was still in one piece so his assumption was correct.

"Didn't have much to recover from," she admitted, because Coop didn't need to hear about frozen asscheeks. "I guess I got lucky?"

Daisy gave a faint smile, waving a dismissive hand. "It's all right. It wasn't much; I seemed to have simply found myself a good ol' All-American girl for the weekend. A bit odd, but kind of inconsequential."

She quirked an eyebrow.

"Do I want to ask about yours, Coop?"

Daisy was just going to take a moment to stare, partially from trying to picture it and partially from trying desperately not to.

And then there was the whole task of swallowing down a laugh. It was a very big laugh, so it went down roughly and settled in her stomach in a way that made her think she might need her own Pepto-Bismol.

"You're kidding," she finally managed to say.

She would have told him to pull the other one, because it had bells, but she knew well enough where she was and that he was likely telling the truth.

Daisy was look at Dale with a morbid sort of impressed fascination.

"You ate a plate," she said after a moment. "And here I was all worried because the Other Daisy had quite the tooth for bacon double cheeseburgers."

"And here I also though," added Daisy with a tentative smile, "that you couldn't get worse than the coffee, either."
