Things Reborn, Sunday

Things had been turning up Reilly after last Sunday. He'd had some good dates, several of them in one night, he fixed the store's front window in a handwavey fashion, and he even got to antagonize a guy who had antagonized his alter ego for years. Even if it was a different guy, technically. And a different version of his alter ego. But in any universe, just as one plus one always equalled two, J. Jonah Jameson always equaled a man with anger management issues, a silly mustache, and a beef with Spider-Man.

So Ben was very chipper as he took a seat behind the counter today, happy that karma finally seemed to be paying him back for that whole death thing.

Before her usual stop in at Wellspring (which she was admittedly putting off as it meant the conclusion of a weekend), Daisy swung by the thrift store.

"Hullo, Ben! I've come to see how the window is!"

That, and catch up a little, because he was taking a considerable lead on the pestering thing, but she'd been busy lately.

"Up until a duck comes through it again, anyway," said Daisy and, with a faint smile, she thought about just saying she was doing fine, but her honest nature sometimes have more control over her. "And I'm all right. Wishing for a longer weekend."

"I've never called in sick a day in my life, Ben."

In fact, out of those options, she'd much rather start just searching through the store to see if she could actually find a time machine.

"No one's happened to have brought in a box of oddly time machine shaped items lately, have they?"

There was a pause.

"Can you?"

"Would all that laughing annoy you, though?" Daisy wondered.

"Awww."

Daisy wondered if the fact that she was laughing at that was a good example of how it was true. Of course, she was laughing mostly because that was just bloody adorable.

"In that case, it's definitely worth a shot. If we had a time machine, I could go back and hear you sing about puberty again."

Daisy's jaw dropped with laughing indignation. "That is hardly," she insisted, "a nefarious purpose!"

"And," Daisy offered, "the customer is always right. Since I'm looking to find a second-hand time machine, I'm a potential customer, and therefor right."

"Oh, is it, now?" asked Daisy, leaning in a little with a quirk of an almost-triumphant grin, her eyes pleading Ben, do tell more...

"Why not?" Daisy asked, pouting a little, even though she had got points. She told herself that she really shouldn't have expected that a time machine would have been in the picture but it really would have been very nice.
