Covent Garden Flowers, Tuesday

Purple columbine. Cyclamen. Sweetbriar.

Those were the plants Ino had paid for, and then woven into a little crown on top her head. It made her grin because she was the only one who’d even know what the meanings meant.

And Ino was perfectly okay with that. She hummed as she worked, sweeping the floor, and then doing inventory to see what all they had in the store.

"Hello, Ino," Penelope said when she walked into the flower shop. But then she fell short of speaking further when she took note of the little crown of flowers upon her head.

"The flowers in your hair..." she began, her smile growing, "...the purple columbine is beautiful."

"And the sweetbriar also?" she asked, beginning to wonder at Ino's mood and perhaps, what she was feeling.

Penelope nodded. "They're beautiful," she replied. "I actually came in here to see if you could order a specific flower for me, but more than that, I'm glad to see you. How are you?" It was a simple enough question, she thought, not at all intrusive.

She wasn't sure how to take her grin because the flowers while beautiful, conveyed much. What had she been through recently to warrant such feeling? Penelope did not wish to intrude knowing that Ino would share if she wanted.

"I have been very well, thank you," she replied, smiling. "I went to the dance with Hurley and it was nice."

A slight pause.

"The flower is Helaborasoreantalis," she told her. No one else has heard of it, so she was suspecting that Ino might not either.

"I did, yes. The dancing was my favorite part. I do not believe I've met your boyfriend. But I am glad you had a good time as well."

Smiling still, she spelled the name of the flower: "H-e-l-a-b-o-r-a-s-o-r-e-a-n-t-a-l-i-s. It is uniquely beautiful. It blooms, even in the winter. Just pops up without any help from anyone."

"I might do that, then," she replied. She had been feeling more and more adventurous as of late.

She beamed at Ino. "Others think it is a long, uncessassary word. Strange perhaps. I think it's beautiful. I've only ever seen it in England, of course, but I would like to see it grown here as well. So perhaps if you can search for it? If that is part of your job description here... I would appreciate it. I'm not certain how to go about it on my own."

Her intake of breath was clearly audible. "Three different worlds? Oh my, might I come by to see your garden sometime?"

"Yes, please! I would love to see both!" Clasping her hands together in front of her chest gleefully. "I have several terrarium's because I was never allowed to have a garden outdoors, but perhaps you might let me help tend yours when the weather changes?" A beat. "Or I would simply be content to watch, rather than get in your way, if you'd rather."

"That is very fair of you, Ino, thank you," she replied. And hopefully she would be able to surprise Ino with how much she did know. She had nothing to do growing up, but to learn. "I will certainly stop by your room. I'm am never too busy," she grinned a little shyly. "I think you might know that, though."

"I have, yes. I take myself to the rec room to play the piano quite a bit here lately. I enjoy it almost as much as I do my plants and flowers. If you see Hurley anytime soon, ask about the flowering bonsai I bought for him. It's quite lovely," she said, then nodded. "Either one suits me perfectly as I have to work tomorrow."

"I wouldn't mind, at all. Others have come to listen to me play and I'm in music club, so I've gotten used to it."

She nodded, smiled. "Thursday it is!" Though she had nothing at all planned for Friday. But it was only Tuesday, wasn't it?

"I'll see you then, and thank you again for checking into that flower for me."

"You too, Ino!" Penelope waved cheerfully before she headed out, her step light.
