Luke's Diner, Thursday

There was stuff in Priestly's hair again. Carefully, almost artistically arranged. Judging by the smirk on his face, it's probably safe to say that the stuff in his hair is preemptive. It's just no fun making fun of someone if they do it, themselves. . . .

This only added to the crankiness of the kitchen staff, today. Probably not the best time to order anything complicated.

"Is there anything else in particular I should get?" Merlin asked, looking around the diner. "More bits with cheese?"

"Bits with cheese?" Francine repeated, slinging her purse into the booth beside her. "There's cheese fries. Or fried cheese."

Merlin just gave her an amused look for that. "How many things have cheese on it here?"

"It's a diner," Francine said, reaching for the plastic-coated menu. "You can probably get everything with cheese on it. ...Well, maybe not the milkshakes."

"Would I want to, though?" Merlin asked, taking a seat opposite from her and just... looking around. It was interesting!

Francine considered this. "The sandwiches. Probably omelets. And cheese fries are good. They're fried potato sticks you can dip in cheese sauce."

Claire was mostly there for fries, really, but the arrangement in Priestly's hair required a second look.

"Your hair is, like, art," she announced, finally setting on a stool. "I approve."

Priestly grinned. "Thanks. I try." He pulled an order pad from his back pocket. "What can I getcha?"

"Cheese fries and a strawberry shake," Claire decided, squinting at his hair. "Is it all just balanced in there or are you using tape?"

Which didn't quite actually answer her question. When it came down to it, it stayed in there because Priestly used a lot of gel.

It had been far too long since she had bothered her little brother, which meant Alice had to pop her head in at the diner after class.

"Am I really allowed to make my own sundae?" she asked cheerfully. "I might put all sorts of things in it."

"Might I bring my own?" she laughed. "There's no reason I can't supply my own ingredients, unless that will quite hurt the cook's feelings. One should never anger one's cook."

"Perhaps I haven't ice cream," Alice shrugged. "It's only speculation, as I didn't bring any ingredients to start. Is the cook being unpleasant towards you?"

Priestly shook his head. "Not yet. Why, you think we're gonna have to head out and get her?"

"I dunno," Tony said. "Maybe. I talked to her yesterday and her sister sounded pretty pissed."

"She seemed to think she'd have some trouble convincing her to let her come back, yeah." Priestly frowned. "They wouldn't try and keep her from contacting us, would they?"

"No idea," Tony said. "I told her we'd take lack of communication as a need for help." He paused. "Though she said her sister'd be tracking us as soon as we crossed the city limits, so it could be a little tough to get her out."

There's some kind of old pamphlet up there about the evils of pleasuring one's self. Priestly's added devil horns to all the cartoons.
