Ben set up a display in the store with the sign: "LAST MINUTE CRUISE WEAR: 20% OFF!"

Between some of the goofy-looking Hawaiian shirts, the vintage swimwear that was still on display in the window, and the like, Things Reborn was pretty well stocked for people going on the trip.

And tomorrow, Ben would need to take all of this stuff down because it was still February out here.

Daisy swung by Ben's shop, feeling nice and relaxed after theusual Sunday meditations. "Hullo, Ben," she said, leaning a little on the counter with a grin for him. "I've a question for you."

"No, this isn't my natural hair color," Ben said. "But blonds do have more fun, strangely enough. That was your question, right?"

"Oh, bullocks," Daisy snorted with a very significant flick of her ponytail, "they do not. But you keep on telling yourself that. Shockingly enough, no, that wasn't my question at all, but it was a rather good guess."

"I pride myself on my guessing abilities," Ben said. "So, what's the real question?"

"Okay," said Daisy, shifting her leaning into a very serious imploring of a very important question, "wouldn't you say that, if someone is inspired to complain about something, then they are officially annoyed about it?"

"Not necessarily," Ben said. "I was just doing what the police suggested."

"I don't know," said Daisy, a little dubiously. "Loki made it seem like you were pretty annoyed with my lack of ability to be annoying."

"He takes being a stern landlord very seriously," Ben said. "Who am I to ask him to tone it down?"

Daisy's expression was an allowing one, shrugging a little. "So am I to understand," she said, "that you're not annoyed by my failure to be properly annoying? And you won't at all be bothered should I continue to not be properly annoying in my annoying you?"

"If I followed that, then you are correct," Ben said. "I'm just starting to feel bad about your failure to be annoying."

"Awwww." Daisy, too, tried to feel back, shoulders sagging guiltily, but her small chuckle sort of spoiled the effect. "I'm sorry; you shouldn't feel bad, though."

"Are you sure?" Ben asked.

"Not now that you've asked like that," admitted Daisy, "no."

Then there was a pause, and a faint smile. "Would it annoy you, feeling bad about it?"

"Not really," Ben said.

"You're impossible," noted Daisy, admiringly.

"I prefer 'exceedingly difficult,'" Ben said. "But that's just because two words are better than one."

"I'm a bit of a fan of brevity, to be honest."

"To be fair, I do like to talk a lot," Ben said. "More words help me with that."

"Can't argue that," Daisy allowed. "I've noticed that liking to talk is a common trait around here."

"Of course. What would we do all day if we didn't have conversations to keep us entertained?" Ben asked.

"Chinese checkers?" offered Daisy.

That was starting to become her solution to everything these days.

"That could work," Ben said. "It wouldn't have been my first choice, but it works."
