Arms Hotel Lobby, Wednesday

There were things outside. Screaming things. Really loudly screaming things.

Jeff was completely convinced that his mother was involved. In fact, some of them looked a bit like his mother.

When Gunther asked him why the hell he was hiding in one of the kitchen cupboards, the only thing Jeff could give him as an answer was, "I knew that knitting circle was a bad idea."

"Jeff, I ho--"

Turtle, who had practically run all the way to the hotel and had done a very poor job of insulting the harpies back ("Yeah, well, you smell funny!"), burst into the shelter of the Arms fully intended to give Jeff a piece of her mind on how clearly she loved him because she had suffered through attacks of Lord only knows what to bring him lunch, only to discover that he wasn't there.

So she asked Gunther, and Gunther directed her to the proper cupboards, which she opened. "Hi, Jeff."

"I brought sandwiches," Turtle offered, lifting her bag. "I even protected it from getting crap on it. Do you think Mary would mind terribly if you let me borrow a key to a room so I could clean up a little first, though? I'll pay for it."

Turtle was about to facepalm, but then remembered that her hair wasn't exactly its cleanest right now and stopped before she regretted it. Her arm dropped to her side. "Only you, Jeff," she said, shaking her head in a bit of fascination. "Only you."

Then, after a pause, she asked, "Did they fly like that, too?"

Okay, yeah, it really wasn't a surprise on why Jeff was sticking in the cupboard.

Not even wanting to talk about what Jeff's mother may have said, she tilted her head slightly at his hiding spot. "There enough room for two in there?"

After all that out there, Turtle was willing to risk poisonous macaroni. "Okay," she nodded. "You move the mop, I'm going to go rent a room to take a shower, and then I'll be in to keep you company, okay?"
