Arms Hotel Lobby, Wednesday
There were things outside. Screaming things. Really loudly screaming things.
Jeff was completely convinced that his mother was involved. In fact, some of them looked a bit like his mother.
When Gunther asked him why the hell he was hiding in one of the kitchen cupboards, the only thing Jeff could give him as an answer was, "I knew that knitting circle was a bad idea."

Turtle, who had practically run all the way to the hotel and had done a very poor job of insulting the harpies back ("Yeah, well, you smell funny!"), burst into the shelter of the Arms fully intended to give Jeff a piece of her mind on how clearly she loved him because she had suffered through attacks of Lord only knows what to bring him lunch, only to discover that he wasn't there.
So she asked Gunther, and Gunther directed her to the proper cupboards, which she opened. "Hi, Jeff."

And then stopped talking.
That was about everything Jeff had.

Jeff didn't know.
"Sure!"
Because Jeff had trouble not lying to people. "You might have to be a bit careful to get one, though," he said, "There might be more harpies at the door. They might even be knitting."

Then, after a pause, she asked, "Did they fly like that, too?"

Although they could've used the stairs.
"Mother did used to say that if I said anything bad about their scarves they'd get in through my window at night and claw off my groin, but I'm sure she was joking about that."

Not even wanting to talk about what Jeff's mother may have said, she tilted her head slightly at his hiding spot. "There enough room for two in there?"

Then glanced aside. "...if you move the mop," he said, "And I think that macaroni's old enough to be poisonous to the touch."
