The Boards, Thursday Afternoon

Tony was working on the lights today - mostly checking bulbs and gels, but also hauling a couple of extra fixtures from the storage room and hanging them from the lighting grid. Every now and then, he'd take a break for a bit and try to use his magic to move something with his mind, the way Merlin could. Which meant that someone coming in the theatre might find him sitting cross-legged on the stage, staring intently at a screwdriver that was doing absolutely nothing at all. Dammit.

"Need any help with that?" Mac asked, wandering up to where he was working.

"Hey!" Tony said. He set down the lighting fixture he was carrying. "Got something for you." He scrambled backstage and returned with a CD in a paper envelope. "It's the specs for the new lighting board. Should be here next week. I downloaded the PDF manual but it doesn't make much sense to me."

"Ooh, useful," Mac grinned as she turned the CD over in her hands. This was her sort of thing. "I'll take a look at that this weekend," she said. "See if I can make sense of it."

"I really hope you can," Tony said. "Else that new board's just going to be a giant, expensive paperweight."

"I think we'll figure something out," Mac replied with a little chuckle. "It's also usually easier once you have the thing in front of you and can fiddle. That's the part I really like."

Tony nodded. "Do you want a tour?" He gestured up at the catwalks.

Mac shrugged, glancing up where he indicated. "Couldn't hurt," she said. "I need to learn where everything is sometime, right?"

Tony nodded. "We'll probably end up completely rearranging the lights, but everything else will stay the same." He lead her up the ladder and gave her a short tour of the flies.
