The York Gallery; Sunday [ 03/22] -- Exhibit Opening! 8;00 onward.

It wasn't the typical opening for the York Gallery, not only in that it was an opening on a Sunday instead of the old Wednesday. It was also an exhibit that featured a great variety of artists, and Charlotte was very excited for it. Well, that last part wasn't rare, but she got everything from the snacks to the presentation set up. She hoped for a good night, but expected it to be relatively quiet.

The Give Less Fruitcake, Buy More Art exhibit was open!

For any employees who might wish to come in and help before hand.

Take a walk around and view all the different pieces displayed, while feeling very cultured in talking with your fellow cultured art-viewers.

It was one of the art shows, so of course Cal was there, making an appearance, looking at the pieces with more interest than they probably deserved.

Claire was there. She dug the painting of angry pandas.

[Establishy only as I am a wuss and the MASSIVE hangnail on my thumb makes typing hurt like a bitch.]

And of course Dale was there examining the different pieces for some reason the one with the panda bears seemed to fascinate him the most.

That one was turning out to be rather popular; Charlotte, herself, was trying not to think of it, but would brave it to dance over and greet Dale with a nice chaste kiss on the cheek. "Hi, sweetie. What do you think?"

"Excellent show as usual," he replied returning the peck on the cheek. "And for some reason I can't tear myself away from the panda bears."

Blech. The pandas. Charlotte narrowly avoided making a face at them before changing the topic off the pandas with a bright, "Guess which one's my favorite."

Ah, subtle tests to try to probe into the boyfriend's psyche that could potentially end in tears. Or at least annoyed, indecipherable huffs.

"Would it be too on the nose to say the shoes?" Dale asked with a small smirk.

But of course Dale passed with flying colors.

"That was an easy one," Charlotte accused, though she could hardly contain how pleased she was.

"Well I am a seasoned investigator of the unknown," Dale teased. "These types of things are simply a matter of deduction and a process of elimination."

"That is true," Charlotte said. "But you do know that I like it on more than just that they're really cute shoes, right?"

"Well the colors, perspective and art style all were factored in," Dale said trying his best to sound lofty. "But I'm pretty sure the subject matter is what brought it home. How much is it?"

"Ah, you forgot composition," Charlotte said, grinning through her matter-of-factness. "And don't even ask that; you're not buying it."

Of course, a second later, she mentioned, "It's six-hundred."

And then, another second, "Which, if you think about it, is about the price of an actual pair of shoes."

"Well why shouldn't I buy it? You like it. I like it. And for a piece of artwork it's rather reasonably priced," Dale reasoned. "Plus it will keep the artist from starving. Possibly from getting scurvy."

He may have thrown that last bit on to see if it would throw off Charlotte from the actual discussion of buying the artwork.

Charlotte gave Dale a little look, one that was poorly maintained as it was hard to be irritated in a situation like this. "Only if they spend the money on fruits; you can't guarantee that they will, you know."

"Well we can stipulate that in the price of the painting," Dale teased. "They have to buy a least one dozen oranges."

"Ooooh, now you're just creating work for me," said Charlotte. "Because I'll have to negotiate, and since this exhibits on loan from another gallery, that's just a whole deeper layer to it."

"How about we just settle for a print then," Dale smirked. "That won't create too much work for you and then we can get the artist a membership to the fruit of the month club."

"A print?" Charlotte was insulted. "Never. I like the work; we'll but it. We'll just settle the deal and send the artist a fruit of the month membership purely out of gratitude for their talent and artistic vision."

Pause.

"And because it could be great networking."

"Well said, my dear," Dale said leaning in for a quick peck on the cheek. "I'm glad you like the idea."

"Well, how many," Charlotte asked, leaning in a little as she grinned, "gallery owners are going to send potential clients fruit? It's very memorable. And practical."

"It can be your trademark," Dale said tilting his head in thought. "I think Barbara Walters does something like that with people she interviews. Not specifically with fruit but with gifts and such."

"I wouldn't want to do it too much," said Charlotte, cautiously. "You wouldn't want people thinking you're too weird."

"Only a select few," Dale agreed. "The ones you want to keep in your inner circle of artists."

Charlotte nodded a little. "I like it. Thank you for the excellent idea." She thanked him a little further with another light kiss and a beaming smile to match.

There is an assortment of finger foods and fancy drinks available, including Charlotte's favorite punch fountain. It was not tacky! It was Tiffany's!

Guess who forgot about this until just now.
