MHA Lobby, Early Saturday Morning

To casual observers, the lobby of MHA probably wasn't all that dirty, but there had been a bunny hopping around with Loki the last few days and there was always need for cleaning when bunnies were involved. Especially when there was non-hired help to do the cleaning.

Besides, Ronon didn't feel like getting rid of the sand quite yet. It still seemed to bug Loki.

"You know, detention's not the same thing as community service," John complained, collecting bunny chew toys. "At least they'd give me a jump suit and a walk along the side of the road."

"You're the one who landed yourself in never-ending detention," Ronon pointed out from his spot in a clean and comfortable chair. "I'm just keepin' you busy."

John glared, but kept working. "Yeah, well, aren't you supposed to know me in the future? Is this some attempt to get back at me for something I haven't done yet?"

"No." Ronon's reply was clipped and cool.

Sensing he'd hit something with mention of the other him, John pressed on, going for answers to things he'd been wondering about for months. "Huh. So, I remember when you got here, you said I was too young to be John Sheppard."

Ronon hadn't forgotten that incident. He also hadn't forgotten that no one had heard from his Sheppard or McKay after they went to the Midway station. "So what?"

"So, maybe you could clue me in on what some old version of me is like," John tried to sound disinterested.

Ronon peered at him with one brow raised. "Why?"

"Call me curious," John said. "Come on, wouldn't you wonder if someone said they knew you in twenty years?"

He had a point there, Ronon couldn't deny that. But mostly because Ronon didn't expect to be alive in twenty years. "Maybe. But you shouldn't worry about stuff you can't control."

"It's the future," John reminded him. "There's gotta be something I could change for the better."

Ronon gave him a look. "Nope."

"You can't tell me there's not one thing you would change?" John wondered what the old him would say. "What would I tell you?"

"Stuff happens for a reason," Ronon told him. "You'll learn."

"You'll learn, as if that makes the future sound like something I shouldn't worry over," John complained.

"Don't you have bunnies to clean up after?" Ronon reminded him.

He really did. And he really hated it. "Don't you have something more educational I could be doing?"

"You can run laps when you're done," Ronon decided, yawning loudly.

"Hey, no sleeping while I'm working here," John chastised. "Tell me next week someone else is covering detention."
