Freelance Police HQ, Sunday

It was a rather accomplished Reno who sauntered into the Freelance Police HQ today, his sleeves still rolled up to his elbows after a Saturday of hard work, his baton resting against his hip, and his pockets filled with Gil that he was going to have to exchange into American coin soon.

It was entirely possible that he was humming that sort of tune that sticks in your head when you feel properly accomplished as he fed Spatula and Leonard their stale fish flakes.

Leonard would have gotten a donut instead of the fish flakes, but Reno could have sworn that he saw the guy rolling his eyes at him when he hummed that victory theme for the umpteenth time.

The Freelance Police HQ is open, and our rates are still better!

Reno might have ~~levelled up~~ gotten a little faster this weekend. He's up for the challenge.

He might hum in your face. And then strike a pose.

He had a good weekend.

Who have taken a dramatic sidestep from main characters to Boss status for the sake of running this HQ.

Max laid on Sam's desk and grinned at Reno. "So! You with the hair -- how are we doing as bosses? I mean, are you gaining valuable experience here? Are the challenges appropriate for your ability level?"

"There still ain't been no hits, so don't think you're gonna be gettin' points for that," Reno mused, sticking his hand into his pocket. "You know, I gotta go to other worlds to find things to beat on. What kinda establishment you runnin', here?"

He liked it when he could beat people up and take their loot. What?

"Not a very good one, huh?" Max mused. "Do you think we made it too hard for Congress to find us? I mean, they should have at least sicced the army on us by now, right?"

"Well, feedin' Leonard and Spatula ain't exactly my idea of a challenge," Reno agreed. "I was expectin' shock troops or somethin' by now, at least. Gimmie a good tank to beat down, or at least a bunch of grunts with machine guns, yo. I need my exercise, same as anyone else."

Reno's idea of exercise apparently involved avoiding bullets and then blowing raspberries at the people firing them.

"Well, they are my army, after all," Max replied. "You think if I ordered them to attack, they would? That would be FUN!!! OOH! OOH! Did I tell you about the giant battle robots?!??!"

"You mentioned 'em," Reno agreed, grinning faintly. "But I ain't never seen any, so I'm startin' to lose faith, here, Boss. Call 'em on over or somethin', would you?"

Giant battle robots would be so cool.

Max pulled a remote control out of his desk with a flourish and hit a button. "Ta-DA!!!"

...An RC car drove out from under a pile of papers and ran into the wall.

"Hm, must've packed the wrong remote."

Reno stared at the car for a moment, and then grinned.

"Next week, I'm gonna have to bring my toy chopper. See if it can take out the RC car from above, yo."

"Your toy chopper has WEAPONS???" Max asked. "Are they lethal?"

"I can make it drop things from the belly," Reno replied with a shrug. "They could be lethal if I put lethal stuff into it, sure."

Not that he was going to load up his toy chopper with bombs or something.

...

Actually, that sounded very much like something Reno would do.

Max clapped his hands with glee. "We should load it with disfiguring acid and send it after people we don't like!!!"

"That is completely freaking depraved," Reno mused, raising an eyebrow at the rabbit.

And then he grinned. "It's gonna have to be acid water balloons. So we're not meltin' the shit outta the inside of my chopper, zoto."

"Well, THAT'S another idea entirely!" Max replied. "I know where we can get some cow manure on the cheap."

(They were probably hiding it in a TV studio.)

"We're not buying any more cases of cow manure, Max," Sam announced from the doorway. "You remember how hard it was to get the smell out of the couch last time?"

"And yet, even after the cleaning bill, we still made a profit," Max pointed out.

.... I reeeeeally need to finish playing Crisis Core. Again. A lot. I'm right there staring down that gaping hole in the wall that signals the point of no return before the end of the game.

But I don't wanna. D:
