The Perk - Late Morning [4/7]

Anyone walking into the Perk would see Johnny Storm and Chris Halliwell sitting at a table, sharing a late breakfast.

Which wasn't that unusual.

However, anyone getting close enough to overhear their conversation would immediately realize that something weird was going on.



[Totally open! Chris and Johnny now think they are Albert and Armand from The Birdcage thanks to a gremlin bite. And, yes, "Starina" will be performing at Caritas tonight :D]

Armand sighed. "The pinky, Al," he stated patiently. "Look at the way you're holding your glass! Look at your pinky! Look at your posture!" Alright, patience was provoked.

"I'm trying, Armand!" Albert whined whined.

"Try harder! And don't pierce the goddamn toast! You have to act like a man and be an uncle. Do you think you can do that, Al, uh? Goddamn these right-wing conservatists..."

Albert took another swipe at the toast and pierced it again.

"Oh, I'm never going to get this."

His eyes were looking dangerously wet.

"Okay, see? When that happens, so what? You have to remember not to go to pieces when that happens. You're a man! Men do not cry over pierced toast, Al. Spread the butter and eat it anyway. So what?"

"Right, I'm a man," Albert repeated, steeling himself and trying to look fierce. He failed miserably.

"I can eat ripped toast." Which he proved by destroying another piece in the buttering process and taking a dainty nibble from it anyway.

"What was that? Are you a mouse? Are you a goddamned woman, Al?" He reached over to smack his hand. "Get the pinky down!"

"Stop yelling at me!" Albert cried, dropping the knife and the toast.

Armand rubbed his temple. "All right, all right." He glanced around to see others staring at their little arguement.

No, no one was really staring.

"Let's work on your walk. Go ahead. Let me see how you can walk like a man."

Albert stood and walked sashayed across the room, his hips swinging with every step.

Armand stared. God save him.

"How was that?" Albert asked with an eager smile.

"Actually, it's perfect. I just never realized John Wayne walked like that," he replied dryly.

Annja had seen and heard a lot of bizarre things since she had been in Fandom -- the past week of zombie infestation notwithstanding.

However, the conversation that she was witnessing here between Johnny and Chris would definitely go down in her book as one of the craziest.

Now, Annja was a warrior for those that needed it and Johnny was her friend... that didn't stop her from taking out her camera phone and recording this. It was only for the sake of journalism -- or something like that. She was sure she could come up with a legitimate reason for recording two of her fellow students acting like they had lost their minds.

If nothing else, she knew her roommate and his girlfriend would love to see and hear what she was.

"How much have I missed?" asked Hoshi with an almost gleeful smile.

Annja grinned at her friend. "Johnny is trying to teach Chris to walk like a man. I've seen women walk without sashaying as much as they're doing."

Hoshi giggled. "It's wrong that I should be so amused, but just look at them! This is almost as funny as the time they thought they were cowboys who lost their cows."

Annja blinked and then laughed. "I missed that one. I don't think I was here yet."

"I think it was during my first semester here. Sadly, I only had one recording and I gave it to Chris for his birthday," said Hoshi. "It was hilarious, though."

"It sounds like it." She watched the boys some more before looking back at Hoshi, trying not to laugh too much. "Was it as funny as this? Because this is pretty funny."

Hoshi took another look at the boys. "Nope, I think this is a lot more funny. At least the cowboys were all tough and everything."

"They are so far from tough right now," she snickered. "I wonder who they think they are this time?"

"Guess we'll be seeing a lot of this with the gremlins going wild," said Hoshi. "I didn't dare look under my bed for my shoes this morning, in case anything was lurking there. It was safer to get another pair from my closet floor."

Annja nodded. "I believe that for this week we have become an all they can bite buffet. I mean, I get why principal Washburn made the deal -- we really did need their help. But I am so being extra careful this week and do my best to avoid them."

Because she was pretty sure if one bit her she'd have a hard time not doing it damage back.

"Getting bitten by a gremlin is much better than getting bitten by a zombie, and I'm glad to have everyone back, safe and sound," said Hoshi. "I'm pretty paranoid about the gremlins, though. I'm sure I can avoid them."

It was a good plan, but it probably wouldn't be foolproof for Hoshi.
