On the roof of Mooby Land, Tuesday evening

On a night like this, some details were unimportant. Details such as what Ben, Jolee, Jonah, and Zayne were all doing on the boardwalk this evening. Details such as how they got garbage cans, two brooms, a mop, and themselves onto Mooby Land's roof. Details such as how exactly a gremlin snuck up on two Jedi, a superhero with a danger sense, and a lifelong reporter, managed to bite them, and where precisely the bites were.

On a night like this, none of that was important because this was the night where the Beatles were having an impromptu rooftop performance.

Zayne Paul picked up his mop bass, and when the others were ready, he started singing.

"Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner / But he knew it wouldn't last.
Jojo left his home in tucson, arizona / For some california grass.
Get back, get back. / Get back to where you once belonged
Get back, get back. / Get back to where you once belonged.
"

"Get back, Jojo. Go home!"

Behind him were Jonah Ringo playing the garbage cans drums, Ben George playing the broom guitar, and Jolee John who was also playing the broom and sometimes he played the fool.

[OOC: Please wait for OCD. Open to gawkers, diners, and police responding to noise complaints.

Oh, and the concert as ripped from the Let It Be movie is on Youtube.]

Listen to the Concert

[identity profile] trustshisbarber.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
They're going to perform the full setlist:

"Get Back #1", "Get Back #2", "Don't Let Me Down #1", "I've Got a Feeling #1", "One After 909", "Dig a Pony", "God Save the Queen", "I've Got a Feeling #2", "Don't Let Me Down #2", and "Get Back #3".

Listen, mingle, throw underwear at the roof. Yell things at the band and get a response!

After Paul finished belting out Get Back like the bearded genius he was, John led the harmony on the next song.

"Don't let me down, don't let me down
Don't let me down, don't let me down
"

And then it was time for him to sing the verse.

"Nobody ever loved me like she does
Oh, she does, yeah, she does
And if somebody loved me like she do me
Oh, she do me, yes, she does
"

John's voice was raw as he sang the next few lines with all the passion in the world.

"I'm in love for the first time
Don't you know it's gonna last
It's a love that lasts forever
It's a love that had no past!
"

Paul joined him again for the chorus.

"Don't let me down, don't let me down
Don't let me down, don't let me down
"

Alone again for the verse, John decided to be a little silly.

"And glow lee ree she ga blee blue gee gobee"

He couldn't help but smile at how silly he had been just then!

"Oh, she done me, she done me good
I guess nobody ever really done me
Oh, she done me, she done me good

Don't let me down, don't let me down
Don't let me down, don't let me down
"

And that's when John started doing a terrifying series of "HEEEEEEEEEEEEE, EEEEEEEEEEEEE!"s.

Honestly, Ringo was happy when the song finished. John freaked him out when he made that noise.

Or maybe it was just because he was freaking out thanks to doing WAY too many drugs earlier. He couldn't really be sure. Then again, most people couldn't tell the difference between a stoned Ringo and a sober Ringo, Ringo included.

Daisy was a cop, but she was off duty, so she wasn't here on the noise complaint bit. If she was, she'd think the complainers needed to not complain about free concerts and just go make sure the manager of the food shop was okay with this.

No, she was mostly here because she was British, and, as such, was compelled to work her way around out of curiosity and a force she couldn't control. And her head tilted for a moment, and, with a grin at Ben particularly, was going to very appreciatively cheer them on.

It really wasn't far off that her fangirling gremlin bite on Sunday wasn't far off from how she typically was. At all.

George nodded to the pretty girl in the front row.

Eric Clapton was probably already nailing his wife, after all, it's not like he couldn't look.

The nod inspired more cheering, cheering made difficult from the attempt to just not die of giggling.

All those secrets last night and Ben didn't mention anything at all about being able to play the broom, too. Did the secrets never end?

John started singing the next verse with Paul.

"Oh please believe me, I'd hate to miss the train
Oh yeah
"

"Yeah!" George contributed before harmonizing with John and Paul on an "OH YEAH!"

Ringo just drummed his little heart out during the brief moment in the song where someone wasn't singing over his awesome drumming. If only everyone else would stop playing! And if only they were performing one of his songs instead!

But then he smiled because deep down he knew that he was going to outlive half of the people on the roof right now. That would show them for not appreciating his musical genius more!

John stepped up for his major contribution to the song.

"Everybody had a hard year
Everybody had a good time
Everybody had a wet dream
Everybody saw the sun shine
Oh yeah
"

"Oh yeah, oh yeah

Everybody had a good year
Everybody let their hair down
Everybody pulled their socks up
Everybody put their foot down
oh yeah
"

As John and Paul started singing One After 909, George looked into the crowd. He SWORE he could see the police starting to swarm about, probably thanks to noise complaints from the Thai place. If George weren't so at peace with the universe, he would be slightly annoyed at the Thai place.

Re: Listen to the Concert

[identity profile] all4thewookiees.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
While George was distracted, John and Paul were finishing the song in harmony.

"I said we're trav'ling on the one after 9 0,
I said we're trav'ling on the one after 9 0,
I said we're trav'ling on the one after 909.
"

And then, because he was still feeling like being silly, John sang, "Oh, Danny boy! The pipes are calliiiiing."

And lo, the other Beatles were amused.

"Hold it!" Ringo yelled out before the others could start playing. He had been smoking a cigar while playing One After 909 and was holding it in his hand when he should have been holding a drumstick to start the song.

After a moment, they were all ready to play.

"I, a-hi hi, a-hi hiiiiiiii
Dig a poooooony...
"

John then continued singing Dig a Pony with occasional harmonizing from Paul.

George did have a pretty great broom solo in the middle of the song, even though he thought it sounded a little broomy off.

The Beatles noticed that the cops were gathering, trying to get up to the roof, so they sped through God Save the Queen, another version of I've Got a Feeling, and another version of Don't Let Me Down before getting back to... Get Back.

"One, two, three, four!"

In this variation on the song, George took some time to play another great guitar solo.

John joined Paul in harmony on the chorus after the solo.

"Get back, get back.

Get back,
WOO! get back.
Back to where you once belonged.
"

Brooke was taking her Wokling... for a walk when she heard the sounds, and amid a lot of "Should we go see what that is? Yes we should!", she took little Britney Shodu to see what all the fuss was.

And then she watched for a little while, dancing around a little to make sure Britney was having fun, then squinted, thinking she recognized one of them.

Which was why between numbers, she covered the Ewok's closest ear and called, "THIS BETTER BE FOR CHILD SUPPORT."

Francine might have been a little apprehensive about going out by herself after this week, but once the sound of a live band covering the Beatles made it through her half-open window, there was no way she wasn't heading out to see it.

Even if on closer inspection the live band seemed to be... well, at least they were alive. They got that part right.

The lack of actual instruments didn't stop her from clapping and singing along, though! "And if somebody loved me like she do me....."

John spotted the girl singing along and gave her a wink.

Like she could see that from the street.

But he was John Lennon. Even his wink was bigger than Jesus.

Maybe from the top of the Apple building it'd be impossible to spot, but the Moobyland roof? She'd probably have been better off not seeing the old guy who ran Caritas winking at her, though.

After the last bit of Get Back, the Beatles started to put their instruments down. As he was doing that, John quipped, "I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition."

And then, a moment later, Jolee Bindo yelled, "WHAT AM I DOING ON A ROOF?"
