Luke's Diner - Wednesday 4/15

In an okay kind of mood, Johnny worked behind the counter doing this that and the other, being totally productive. It helped preoccupy his mind from upcoming graduation and leaving Savannah behind.

It was Wednesday, so there was a Savannah with the largest cup of coffee the Perk had available.

"Hey, you," he said, giving her a small grateful smile. The coffee was much needed and appreciated.

Savannah smiled. "Hey, love." She handed him the cup. "I thought you could use a pick me up."

"I could," he replied, taking the cup from her. "How are you doing?"

She leaned against the counter. "I'm all right. You?"

"I'm doing okay," he told her. "Not totally perfect, but I'm fine enough."

She reached out to squeeze his hand, not sure what else she could do to make him feel better.

Taking her hand, he brought her fingers to his lips to kiss. There was nothing she could do. He wasn't going to be here much longer and those facts sucked.

She smiled when he did that, pretty sure what he was thinking. "I love you," she said quietly.

"I love you too, sweetheart," he said just as quietly, against her fingers.

Savannah said the first thing she could think of. "It's going to be all right, Johnny." Her voice was soft. She believed it, and the kids had reaffirmed that belief. "New York is pretty close to Fandom, you know..."

"I know it." Didn't mean he liked it. "We'll get together often, won't we? It'll be fine."

"We'll get together as often as you can stand it," she said with a soft smile. "I can meet you at the end of the Causeway... or I can take a portal... or call Chris or Wyatt. We won't be... separated... for long."

"We won't," he said, looking into her eyes. "I promise you."

She nodded. "I know." She believed that and she believed him. She looked into his eyes so that he could see her belief and her feelings. "I promise, too."

"A year isn't that long. It'll go by so fast, seriously." He was making himself believe this yes.

And she was trying like hell to believe it, too.

"We'll have vacations and times I'm not in class..." She swallowed. "All you have to do is call and I can be there."

"And we'll have the island I'm going to purchase for us." Or he would certainly try.

She nodded again. "I know. It will... it'll be all right."

If he couldn't, she knew that all she would have to do is ask Benicio and he would... but she wasn't sure she wanted to do that.

"We'll have our own..."

Johnny would make sure he got it. He'd have help if he couldn't manage. Between Sue, Reed, and Ben, he and Savannah would have their island.

"I'll be by tonight to see your art work," he said, changing topics.

Oh yeah, the art crawl...

"There's going to be a special painting there," she said with a small smile. "I hope you like it."

Because she hadn't shown it to anybody yet.

He grinned at her. "Yeah? Is it a naked self-portrait?"

She stared at him and then giggled, shaking her head.

"I am so not that brave, Johnny. If you remember I was mortified about people seeing me in the Wonder Woman costume." She was blushing thinking about it.

"Mmm, yeah. I remember Wonder Woman..." off to a wicked good place, did his mind go.

"Maybe... you know, if you still have that outfit, you could wear it for me sometime."

She laughed and blushed.

"It's in the closet..."

She grinned. "I thought you might like to see it again."

"That's my girl," he grinned and leaned forward to kiss her.

She leaned into him to kiss him back. "Always."

She nodded and kissed him again.
