The Perk: Tuesday Morning

"No, I didn't want just one shot," Lindsay called out to the barista. "I wanted two shots of the caramel. And extra whipped cream and some chocolate syrup. What? I like it that way."

The barista behind the counter rolled her eyes and wondered if there would be a day Lindsay would order actual coffee instead of dessert.

Lindsay on the other hand didn't give a damn as long as there was that second shot of caramel.

Bag of weapons slung over his shoulder, Ronon was glad he'd managed to track Lindsay down. He didn't sit, just sort of lurked in her vicinity, all tall and armed to the teeth. "Hey, I'm heading out."

Lindsay blinked as she looked over at Ronon. What the hell was he doing with all that crap.

"Heading out where?" she asked. "Baghdad?"

"That'd be closer," he replied. "They're sending me back to Pegasus, hoping to hook up with Atlantis again."

He paused, assuming she'd followed all that, "I'm not real good with goodbyes."

"Oh."

She didn't get all of it. She did get the general idea though.

"So... Is this like a 'I'll see you in a week' kind of thing or 'hey it's been nice knowing you' kind of goodbye. I mean, not that it matters right? We never really called it anything. If it was a thing. Y'know."

He didn't know how to answer the first part, truthfully. "Stuff that's meant to work out, works out," Ronon said. "And it was a thing. Definitely a thing."

"So you have no idea what's going to happen and no idea if you're even coming back," Linz said haltingly and trying not to flail. "I mean... I don't know what to say. When are you leaving?"

Um.

"I'm on my way to the portal," he admitted.

"Oh. Well then. Shit," she said trying to put a brave face on as she attempted to hug him. "Fuck me. Now? Jesus. I guess you're not the only one that sucks at goodbyes because I'm screwing this royally."

As if he would leave without giving her a giant bear hug. "You're doin' good," he promised. "I'd promise to call, but intergalactic whatever's kinda outside my skill set."

"Shit, just don't do something stupid and die on me. Or get maimed or something," she said doing her best not to get choked up.

"Wouldn't dare," Ronon told her, trying to stay upbeat. "Incurring your wrath's not on my to do list this week."

She gave him a little smile for that. "And I will kick your butt. Remember that"

She then patted his chest and pushed away a little. "You better get going to... Pegasus. Or whatever."

"Yeah. You be safe here," he told her, stepping back and hefting his bag over his shoulder. "Kick Loki's butt for me."

"I'll do that."

She kind of looked at him for a moment or two before feeling more awkward than ever. "I'll just... I'll just go over there," she said point to some random spot in the room."

"How about you stay, and I'll go," he offered, inclining his head toward the door and starting to go in that direction.

God she felt like such a dork.
