They were probably overreacting a little. Zack was just trying to burn off most of his excess energy by doing some squats between customers.

Cafe Fina was open. And due for a sugar-crash-induced coma any moment now.

Friday had been a deeply distressing day, and Maron had proceeded to keep entirely to herself all through Saturday as well. Come Sunday, though, she knew that she had to get out and be cheerful.

And radio had told her where someone cheerful was! Method to Maron's madness. Her hello sort of stuttered to a halt, though, as she entered. "Hel--what are you doing?" Cheerful, Maron. "And, hi Zack! I found you!"

"I'm doing squats," Zack practically chirped, straightening up and waving hello. "How are you doing, Maron? Good to see you?"

Bounce! Wriggle! Grin!

He was so happy that she had to grin back at him. "Good to see you, for sure! Squats in a restaurant?" Maron teased. "Maybe you should learn to cook instead!"

"The dishes don't trust me in the kitchen today," Zack pouted. It was an epic, sugar-fueled sort of pout. It was also very short lived, because there was so much more smiling to be done. "Or most days. You know, they made me eat snails last week. There's something I never thought I'd be putting in my mouth. But then, they weren't too bad. Kind of... snail-y. They wouldn't give me ketchup for them. How unfair is that?"

Time to take a breath. Okay. He was good!

"You ate snails!?" Ewwwww. "That's so unfair! Why wouldn't they? And why wouldn't they trust you? So mean!"

"Sooo mean," Zack agreed, wobbling back and forth from foot to foot. Sugar was awesome. So awesome. A lot. Oooh yes. "I think they figure I'll start to break things in the kitchen or something. Or maybe I'll make a silly mistake like putting garlic in the cinnamon buns or something like that. But I don't think some misplaced garlic can possibly be half as bad as snails."

A napkin stared at him for a moment, appalled, and then sniffed and rushed off to the kitchen to put chains around the garlic.

"Have you been keeping busy, Maron? Fandom's a pretty crazy place, I'm learning!"

She laughed. "A lot less worse than snails!" Now she was going to wonder how that'd taste, just a bit. "I mean, can you even put snails with anything else? Or are they just on their own?"

Maron shrugged a bit. "Not the last two days," she said, "though I was at the concert in the park on Thursday. Radio makes it sound like you've been super busy though!"

Edmund was actually dry for this encounter with Alice. It was a bit of a change from the other day. He tried to wave Zack down to ask about getting a table.

Zack was completely wave-down-able, and he came hurrying over the moment that he noticed the other boy waving at him.

"Hey! Welcome to Cafe Fina! Can I help you at all, today?"

He'd beaten the dishes to the punch. They stood back watching.

Holding their breath.

Horrified.

"Table for two? We can do that, sure!" Zack shot off a silly little salute before waving for Edmund to follow him. "Do you have any preference between a window seat or a booth or anything like that?"

"A booth," Edmund decided with a firm nod. He could hide easier in a booth if the situation called for it. "Please."

"Not a problem!" Zack was pretty much stuck on 'bounce' mode, and he did such all the way to the booth. "How is this one? And can I get anything for you while you're waiting for your... date?"

He hadn't actually specified, but Fina really was a dating sort of restaurant, wasn't it?

What with all of the... Uh. Ambient... music. And the dishes. And such.

"Not a date," Edmund said quickly. "Really not a date in any way at all. Just two people buying their own dinner and talking." Wow, he really did say that quickly. It was almost as if Zack's energy was wearing off on him. Realising that he'd overreacted, he finished with a simple "Water please."
