Things Reborn, Sunday

After leaving the slumber party this morning, Ben stopped by his place to change and then came straight to work. His nails and hair were the same color today that they were yesterday, and he considered that a victory.

Since he was still kind of in the sleepover mood, he put up a sign: "ALL SLEEPWEAR, 10% OFF!" These sleepovers seemed to be popping up a lot recently, so it didn't hurt for people to be prepared for the next one.

Daisy was a bit later coming in that usual, but she'd figured Ben would have been expecting that. If he wasn't sick of her already, anyway.

"Maybe I should have told you about the party sooner," she said, noting the sign. "Could have capitalized on that a bit better that way..."

"If it helps," said Daisy, "Vince and I have something in the works involving music next, so maybe I can give you a heads up on that one."

"Fine by me," said Daisy. "It's in Vince's apartment this time, so he won't have to move his equipment. So he'll get in trouble, not me."

Daisy shook her head. "One down," she said, pointing to the floor. "Number eight."

"You can't complain about a party you're attending anyway," said Daisy. "Because you will be attending, won't you, Ben?"

And, really, it was all Loki's fault that Daisy learned the power of enabling the ability of the Puppy Eyes.

"Yaaay." Beaming, Daisy clapped a little. She was easily pleased.

"It'll be fun. And I'll be nice and only pester you about singing if you want me to."

So Daisy sighed a little, but she nodded. "That I won't. Pity, though, really."

"What makes you think you'll make a fool of yourself?" asked Daisy. "And have you seen me sing? You can't be any worse than that."

"You wrestle alligators!" Daisy countered.

Daisy considered that for a moment, eying Ben a little as she tried to think around his argument but finding it rather snug.

"Damn," she said, giving up. "Put it that way, and I guess you're right. At least when it comes to singing, because I know I'm bloody awful at it, and yet you can't get me off the stage."

Daisy wrinkled her nose, adorably, at Ben for a moment. "And it's not even fair," she said, "because I can't point out that you'd be adorable, too, because you'll probably just tell me that guys don't want to be adorable."

"It is hard to seem effeminate when you wrestle alligators," Daisy admitted with a chuckle. "Alright, then, you can sing. You'd be just as adorable up there as I am, if not more so."

"What if it's a song about an alligator?" asked Daisy. "Meet you half way."

"I would not!" Daisy objected with a laugh. "Crocodiles and alligators are completely different animals, and while I do love a little Sir Elton every now and again, I mean it when I say alligators. There's got to be one."

"One of these days," said Daisy, "maybe. Maybe I'll get you to sing for me, Ben, but I can be patient. I'll just mean I'll enjoy it all the more when it happens."

"Puberty only last so long, Ben."

"Clearly not so long if you had to remind me of it."

"Maybe if you did it more often," said Daisy, "I'd be more inclined to remember."

"How can you know for sure unless you try?"
